For a trade in they recommend about 12,000 a year. I had a 2004 1500 4X4 with the HEMI, and about 66,000 miles. Fun truck and never had a problem with it at all. I traded it in and got 15,000 for it. If you ask why I traded it in, it's because I got a good deal on an SRT 10, and that is the only other truck I would have gotten rid of the HEMI for.

I have a ram 02 1500 it has a 4.7 liter and 178000 miles no problem with except for a wheel bearing and it was pretty expensive at 258 dollars but easy to replace.

Depending on the light, it may be your battery. I couldn't tell you without seeing that "red light". However, try to hook up a jumper cable, or booster pack, to the engine, and turning over then. From that point, run the truck for 10-15 minutes (not in an enclosed garage), and see if it will crank at that moment. It could be the battery, starter, alternator, plugs. It's not getting proper spark to the engine. Take it to your local Dodge dealer, it should be under warranty, unless it was new.

I have to agree with The Mullet. I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus, and I had to get my transmission rebuilt right after my 70,000 mile warranty expired. I now have 150,000 (all highway) and my motor still purrs like the day it did when I drove it off the lot.

It all depends on the part of the country you are from, i'm from the midwest and it's average for a car to get at least 15000 miles on it per year, so i would say that truck is pretty good on the mileage.

12,000 to 15,000 is the figured average provided by the NHTSA. Personally, I put closer to 25,000 to 30,000 a year on my vehicle. So your mileage is probably a fine low deal. Now, how is the maintenance on the truck? Any crashes, major repairs? As far as "recommended" mileage.... well, depends on your needs, and if you have the vehicle as a lease or it actually belongs to you. Most lease vehicles have 12,000 per year in thier contract, and charge you for mileage over that 12,000. Good luck.

No, that's about the average mileage on a car that age. I believe 12,000 miles per year is the norm.

Just make sure you get the transmission checked out before you buy it, dodge has great engines but their transmissions kind suck. I just had mine replace in my 2003 Dakota R/T with 55,000 on it. Unless it comes with a warranty like mine did, get it checked first.

You have to figure 12k a year for a regular average, and that's not really that much.

A 2002 is 5 years old now, so that would equate to 60k. NOT BAD.
