The pump should be checked with engine running and off a T fitting installed before the carburetor. The pressure should remain consistent between 2.5 and 8 PSI and should return to 0 slowly after the engine is shut off. If the engine will not start just crank it over until you get a consistent reading.

sinse all fuel pumps have different fuel pressures to the fuel rail. or carborator, you will need to chech the pressure with a fuel pressure guage, found at any automotive parts stoer.
