Add one tablespoon of red food coloring to your pie batter, it it is not dark enough add more(food coloring) but use a teaspoon or two and stir well after each addition. Keep adding the food coloring till it's the color that you like.

Red food coloring. Since the mix is already orange I would only add a drop or two at a time until you get the perfect color red.

instead of all that food coloring, you could always take a cookie cutter and cut out little hearts in the extra pie crust and lay them on the top of your pie while you bake it. So you will have little heart shaped crust pieces on the top of the pie.

I had seen it done with leaves for thanksgiving but I am sure it work well with hearts too :)

Good luck!

Food coloring but use the paste and to soften the orange you will have to use some yellow and some blue to get a rich red.
