No! Both are necessary for either muscle activity. Red muscle fibers are the same, but contain more fat and vascular supply for extended energy and for better delivery of O2 and removal of waste products! That is why they are red, because they contain higher concentrations of a substance known as Myoglobin which, like hemoglobin delivers oxygen to the muscle. This allows longer extended contractions involved in lifting and moving via walking.
