If it has gotten worse lately then you could have an infection which means you'd need antibiotics. If it has just stayed the same have hot honey & lemon & cough medicine. Also try inhaling menthol & eucolyptus in a bowl of hot steam, that'll definitely help.

If you cough up yellow or green mucus, you have a bacterial infection. You will need anti-biotics. If you cough up blood then rush over there (to the doctor's) even quicker. I had a bacterial chest infection & managed to overcome it naturally in 2 weeks but I eat super healthily. Even if you were to start eating super healthily, it would be too late, as it has been 3 weeks already. That's the maximum time you should wait before going to the doctor. You should take probiotics & eat garlic after taking anti-biotics though as they destroy good bacteria completely & can allow for parasites & candida to invade your colon.

Is your Dad a doctor? Mine isn't.
I always thought Dads were good for pocket money and doctors were good for prescribing medicines.
See a doctor.

rest is best with warm soothing drinks.
some herbal teas work well but if you can't get yourself to drink tea, try some warm lemon water with sweetener.
good ol' humidifier to moisten the air in the home will help, too.
