to impress a guy you just need to wear a dress or outfit (ie:sweater and jeans etc...) that plays to the strengths of your looks

No you don't. If you don't just be yourself, you are cheating yourself and the guy. If he doesn't like you, there will be a hundred more to line up and take his place. Don't sell yourself short, you are unique and wonderful and he is privileged to be able to go out with you.
