No, only person I know who tried to hang himself succeeded.

If you hang yourself, death is NOT instant. The only instant hanging is when you are given an exactly-measured 'long drop' by an experienced hangman.
In the Middle East, they use the 'short drop' - this is where you are raised into the air on a rope or dropped a few inches and left suspended, so that you suffer the maximum agony and horror.
(Saddam was lucky - he got the 'long drop' from an expert and died instantly).
If you hang yourself at home, you will take from between 10 and 30 minutes to die. It will not be pleasant (to put it mildly). Your eyes will come forward and bulge from their sockets and blood will escape from eyes, mouth and ears. Your sphincter will open and you will evacuate your bowels and bladder. Irreversible brain damage will take place after the brain has been starved of blood flow for 5 or 10 minutes.
If you are intent on suicide, this is one of the very worst ways to do it.

I do not know them personally, but I know of them. It's not nice, vegetable forever and the guys mom is now caring for him, changing him, feeding him, very very sad for all involved,
