Sometimes my computer will freeze and I cannot turn it off and have to turn it off by the plug. Can anyone please tell me how to turn it off with the keys or how to unfreeze it.

Also sometimes when I use real player the image stays on the screen and cant get rid of it and when I use other programmes and close them down the image of them is left in its place. It wont let me close the window because there is no "X" there. Then when I shut down the computer it says close open window,

Many thanks to all who answer.

With the keys you press Ctrl/Alt/Del together and that should bring up the program manager to allow you to shut down. Or press the on/off switch but keep it held in until it goes off. I had the same problem with Real player and uninstalled it in the end because it continually made my computer crash. Dont know what did it but I upgraded it one day and it messed up from there. Maybe you need to re-install it or get rid of it xxxxxxxxxxxx

The computer will turn off if you hold the power button in. Hold it until it does. It is probably a virus, or adware or both. Run scans for both. If you don't have programs, adaware and avast has worked well for me. A lack of sufficient ram will also cause this problem.

Microchip is exactly right , a lack of resourses on the computer.

There should be a reset button which will stop you from having to unplug all the time.

I suggest for the long term a new computer , or at least some service and upgrades.

You have a software problem, but you can turn it off with the power button you turn it on with. You just have to hold it in for 5/10 seconds depending on the commputer.
