Agreeably, dont breed your cat if you cannot keep all the kittens, or know they will go to loving, good homes. If you are serious, try another tortoiseshell or maine coon. The results should be fluffy, big cats! But also temperamental.

Don't mate her get her spayed and do not let her have kittens. They will not be pure breads, so why? You can't sell mixed breed kittens,Your cat will be happier and healthier and live a lot longer if you get her fixed. If your mind is made up a Siamese or Rag Doll would be the best mix.Good luck finding a breeder willing to offer stud services.

Your cat will select the type of cat with whom she'll breed. Even in heat they are incredibly selective and will tear up an unwanted male.

I disagree with the posters who say to automatically spay and neuter every pet. While I agree there are too many animals at shelters; it is because of a gross shortage of responsible, kind humans rather than an overabundance of kittens and puppies. Please be sure you can make a home for any kittens you are unable to give away or sell. A litter is usually 4 to 6 kittens.

HELLO? Anyone ever hear of something called, "Genetics?"

If you'll notice, all tortie's are female -- that should be your first clue that the gene for that pattern is recessive. If you mate a tortie with a male cat of any pure breed, your chances of getting another tortie are slim and none because the male cat also has to have the gene for the tortie pattern.

Maxing with a pure bred male will give you a 1 in 4 chance of getting a blend of one of the tortie's colors with the male's colors. The rest will be solid colors with or without the markings of the male (if he has any).

Kowulz, you took the words right out of my mouth.

H.J., I know you probably didn't realize this but thousands of cats and dogs are put down each month because people think it would be fun or cute to let their pet have puppies or kittens. There are more puppies and kittens than there are homes for them. Please be a responsible pet owner and have your little tortoiseshell spayed. She'll probably live longer and be healthier in the long run.

A spayed or neutered kind! Why do you want to breed when there are so many unwanted and abandoned animals in shelters needing homes? You can find any breed you can imagine in shelters.

You never know what your going to get. My black cat had 1 white kitten with orange ears, and 3 orange tabbies.. go figure! Tortis are a mix so you never can be sure what you're gonna get.

If you arent a breeder, dont do that to your cat. If a kitten results from breeding, you want to make sure that you know hats gonna come out. If you breed without any experience what so ever, you can be sued, and the cat might be born sick

Cats are not picky and there is no way to tell what the results are. If you are not a breeder, dont do it. There are enough unwanted cats and kittens.
