Shes a baset hound of 5 years. Shes not exactly old and fragile, but she is fragile in a way, you cant handle her the way you handle my 2 year old boy baset, she yelps over everything. But for the third time, she is walking sideways for some reason, like shes uncordinated, and she has trouble climbing stairs or jumping on the bed. And its not that shes old, because a few days later, she can dart up the stairs and bounce on the bed and run aruond the house and what not, she just randomly has these times where she walks sideways slowly. And she whines alot, does anyone know why she has these problems?

See a vet. When my dog did something like this I was scared but later found he had an inner ear infection that would come and go. It was painful so he yelped and it made him stagger like he was drunk. I had taken him to the beach with me and he got water in his ears. Hope your little friend has something as simple to treat.
He also was jumped upon by a very large hound one time and slipped a disc in his back and acted the same way.

Just to be safe you might want to get her checked out at the Vets. She might have some arthritis or even something wrong with her legs or hips... When the weather changes do you notice her symptoms more? It could also be her ears.. causing her to be unstable, dizzy, pain in the ears if infected, etc..
You never know, bet the Vet will. If she's whines alot its a good sign to get her some help.. Its sad to see animals in pain.
I hope she gets to feeling better and you find the source..

These are not normal dog behaviors. Yes, something is wrong and she does need to be seen by a vet. Sounds like something is causing a motor control function. Could be neural or brain swelling? Maybe a food allergy is the cause? I'm not a professional.

Bring her to the vet. A lack of co-ordination can be many things. Perhaps an inner ear, brain, spinal cord, vertebrae, infection, genetic disease, endocrine / hormonal imbalance...etc. etc.
Even a vet cannot tell you what's wrong with your dog unless he / she performs specific tests and sees the results. It's a process of elimination and only a vet is trained to diagnose and treat specific conditions.
I hope your dog gets fast treatment and is back on her feet soon. She's relatively young and should be able to bounce back. Don't delay - see your vet! Your dog depends upon you.

Go see your vet.
You're not going to get an accurate diagnosis here. It could be something simple and easily correctible.
It costs as much as a nice dinner out to see your vet. If it were your child you would have been at the doctor the first time it happened.
Go see your vet.

I would say bring her to the vet, or call them to see what might be up. I think that she injured one of her legs, or somthing is broken, Or and internal organ is hurting because when you pet her she yelps, she is probably in a lot of pain, so the vet is the best choice, and a.s.a.p

I have a beagle who sometimes acts this way.(same age) It could be a type of arthritis. Or maybe sore joints. Is it possible that she sprained a leg or something? Check with a good vet and see if they can help find the culprit.

yes, there is something wrong with your dog, bring her to a vet as it is probably a back issue, as they are prone to back and joint problems.I would suggest to anyone with a long-bodied, short-legged dog to becareful with letting them jump on and off of furniture, as it can cause cumulative damage, do to their body shape. After a trip to the vet I would pick up some pet steps to help her get on and off the bed and furniture without exaggerating her problem. Good luck!

She could be having a type of seizure. Not all dogs that have seizures hand grand maul type. You'd have to have her checked out by a vet to be sure. If she is having seizures the vet can prescribe an inexpensive medication, Phenobarbital. Good luck to your dog. Please have her vet checked.
