It sounds very much like a migraine, alot of people with migraines are sensitive to light, sound and Oder's and feel nauseous or even get sick literally. I have them myself although I do not actually throw up I do get very nauseous. Some people see strange lines of color, have tunnel vision also with a migraine. I would talk to a Doctor about a daily migraine prevention medication and also something like imitrix oral or shots to take at the onset of a migraine. I hope he feels better, migraines are a pain. I also have had to get cortizone shots for migraines. However make sure you find out the side affects of imitrix or anything else that is taken at the onset of a migraine as the medication can also make you nauseous, at least imitrix did that to me.

I'm no doctor, but yes it sounds exactly like a migrane.
Im a great believer in drinking plenty of water, most headaches are due to dehydration

I'd suggest a visit to his doctor to rule out anything more serious, but it does sound like migrane, and the best bet is to have a lay down in a darkened room for an hour or two, with a firm pillow supporting his neck.

(and an Anadin or two)
