There is a hostel at the Hermosa Beach pier, which I think would be perfect for you - it is literally 10 steps to the sand, right in the middle of a whole bunch of bars/ clubs/ restaurants (I recommend Dragon on Sundays because they have $1 beers and excellent house music all afternoon). Plus lots of young people who like to party live in that area, and I'm sure you'll meet plenty of girls who love Spanish accents.

Hermosa Beach is one of my favorites (it is one of the beaches in what is considered the South Bay), and it is near Manhattan Beach (which also has good nightlife in town, a bit more upscale and sophisticated) and Redondo Beach. The South Bay area is incredibly close to LAX, too, so a cab ride wouldn't be very expensive (as far as cab rides go in L.A...cos they're always more expensive here than anywhere else).

Ok.. tough question but hopefully this will help. If you want to live in L.A. for a month, the best advice I can give you is to either
1. Stay in a hostel or
2. Visit craigslist.com, click on Los Angeles, and then look for the vacation rentals link or the sublet link. There should hopefully be some good stuff. Also, there is an apartmetn complex in Hollywood that has VERY nice furnished apartments that are specifically designed for month to month. I can't remember the name of it, but you can try to do a search on line. It is on Barham Blvd. Check it out and good luck!

There is also a hostel in Venice beach. Perhaps you could try both of them.
Housing in any form is not cheap, unless you sleep in your car or on the beach.
Perhaps a campground might do you, although I know of none near the beach near LA.
Have fun!

at the starting up, the elements in L.A. is a lot cooler than Palm Springs in August. (seventy 5 to ninety ranges as hostile to at least one hundred and 5 to one hundred and fifteen). Secondly, there are extra events and see in L.A interior and out of doorways. the in common words belongings you may extremely do interior through Palm Springs is casinos. it may extremely warm outdoors. Thirdly, L.A. is more low priced than Palm Springs and there is not any water (lake or ocean) in Palm Springs except you flow up into the mountains interior of reach (enormous bear). for this reason, no matter if Palm Springs is extremely positive, I vote you should stay in L.A. and in case you pick you canpersistent out to Palm Springs.
