Your DVD player, like most doesn't support Windows Media files.

The only way to get it to playback, is to convert it to a format the dvd-player does understand. If you are trying to play windows media audio files then you must first convert them to mp3, which your player probably does understand.

If it's a windows media video(WMV) then you have to convert it to DVD-Video. I am not sure about what version of Nero you have but if you have installed Nero Digital (check your install disk or download from http://www.nero.com) you can use NeroVision Express to convert it to DVD-VIDEO. You might have to buy/steal a registration key to enable transcoding of WMV's.

Alternatively, if your dvd-player supports Divx then you can convert the file to Divx/XVID AVI.
