That's like saying, I believe in the Bermuda Triangle, but when I go to school I still say 1+1 =2.
OK...so you're not completely irrational. That's good. Don't let anyone tell you that you need to disbelieve evolution. If you do, I would drop the Christianity.
Gazoo makes a good point above. If Genesis cannot be interpreted literally, then there is no original sin and the whole basis for Jesus sacrificing himself is false. Jesus, supposedly a god, talked about Adam and Eve as historical persons and the Garden of Eden as an actual place. How then can evolution and Christianity be reconciled.
Like most aspects of religion, it requires mind-bending rationalization.

God could certainly have caused live to evolve, but that's not what is written in Genesis. Why would a person believe in evolution and still profess Christianity? There is no evidence for either position. Evolution's only function is to explain the emergence of life without a Creator. Why would someone believe in a Creator, but not believe what He says about the origin of man? Why would one believe in evolution if he believed in a Creator?
It seems to me that both concepts are mutually exclusive.

Absolutely a Christian can believe in evolution. A lot of Christians believe in evolution. It's just believed that that's how God created life as we know it. Why not? It doesn't absolutely have to be one way or the other.

You can't have it both ways.
Evolution is incompatible with Christianity and vice versa.
It all comes down to the basics of each belief.
Evolution purports humanity (as well as all the other species) ultimately came about through genetic mutations - mutations a Christian could say were activated by God.
But, have you ever delved deep enough into the theories of evolution to discover the rascism built into the theories?
Darwin as well as a number of other well known scientists have built a whole group of subtheories based around the premise that evolution also takes into account the various behavioral and intellectual differences between races. Much of their studies tried to prove that blacks were/are inferior intellectually and behaviorly to whites and orientals.
This premise flies in the face of true Christians who believe that we are all one race under one God.
In addition, if you get far enough into the theories of evolution you find that there is no room for God as evolution is based on the premise that every action was an accident sans any intelligent design.
Just read the answers throughout YA and see how many Atheists believe in evolution and how many Christians believe in evolution.
See how many Atheists believe in intelligent design and how many Christians do.
If the Bible is God's word, evolution is incompatible with Christianity.
If the Bible is just a collection of stories like so many believe, than any is compatible with anything else - anything goes.

I'm with you. Of course a Christian can believe in evolution. It is just those that take every single word of the bible literally that will say you are not a Christian. God gave us brains so we could think for ourselves and hearts so we can feel for ourselves.

If yui believe the Bible is really a bunch of parables, the the two could be combined. But, if you believe it is historical, then no, Genesis contradicts the theory.
I don't completely believe everything evolved w/o creators, but I certainly don't believe an individual is responsible for the multiple aspects of life.

Sure you can, but you would have to acknowledge that Genesis is wrong. That means that the Bible is not the inspired word of God.
If you can justify that somehow in your mind then it is fine. I personally just think the whole book is bunk. Makes it a lot easier to justify.

when i look at all these animals and birds and humans and there very complicated behaviors,Structures ,the way the body acts, the sensitivity of the eyes, the way every animal is in the right place with the brilliant right capabilities to survive (Camels in the desert, polar bears), and the ability for birds to fly,,,,,,,,,etc
how come the baby and small animals knows how to get breast Fed?
how come all the planets are in perfect order?
how we breath the oxygen produced by plants?
how come every species has its purpose in the ecosystem, and the food cycle?
how come animals know how to reproduce?
when every time i see an animal documentary it makes me get fascinated and really get baffled on how all this is made? and how it could happen?
and maybe God made our ancestors look different so they could survive the harsh conditions at there time.
and the theory of evolution is just a theory, some Scientist Doug up some bones of a retarded ape and after that his imagination went wiled,,,,,,,,
i hope you understood my point of view,,,
thank u for your question

Only the "literal" interpretation of Genesis is challenged by evolution. Other than that there is no conflict between Christianity and a belief in evolution.
