I drank ditch water once when I was about 16, we were walking home from partying all night in the country and soooo thirsty from drinking all night and walking in the heat and sun all day, so passing a ditch with water in it was not an option. Needless to say we both drank ditch water and maybe survived because of ditch water.
But FYI.... boil any water and it is sterile....even urine

ask dustin hoffman
as for water in ditches never
rivers streams etc r ok sometimes
I have done it for years especially in lake district area
but you should know a bit about where
you are, ie the water source
if you are a long way down from the source avoid it
close to source is usually fine
boil everything anyway
as a rule the greater the flow of water the safer
stagnant = disease so AVOID ditches

I would prefer not to as the ditch is usually an overflow for run off waters and hmmm septic areas. I tend not to recycle in this manner, and the sand doesnt dissolve.

Not a good idea, always carry water with you. If you want to go camping always prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Only if adequately filtered and there is no better water source nearby. Stagnant water should be an absolute last choice for drinking even with filtration. Look for a nearby stream, even a very small one.

I would say no if its not running water it could be stagnant
That's why you should use a stream or a river where the water is running just to be on the safe side

I'd say so but I'm no girl guide. Just think of all the bugs in it!!! Yuk.
Don't think tea would ever taste the same again.

That ditch water is probably full of bacteria, various agricultural chemicals, larvae and other nasty creepy crawlies.
