Personally, I have found out that it doesn't matter how oily, dry, etc your face is, get a face wash for sensitive skin, ie - phisoderm and put a little bit of baking soda in your hand with the product and massage into your face, rinse and pat dry(not wipe) with a clean towel. I've used proactive before and it did nothing but irritate my face and dry it out, making it more prone to breaking out, but the above method has been working for me so far, not to mention, it's way cheaper. Just be patient and stick with it for a couple of weeks. Good luck!

I just went to the doctor yesterday and asked the same question. Her reply: STOP DRINKING SODA! I've used pills, medical creams and ointments, over the counter crap, etc. and of course, nothing has worked for me. I was even thinking of trying ProActive Solution you see on TV. But anyways, the doc said if I lay off the soda completely, my skin will start to improve. I used to have acne extremely bad but now it went down a lot. My only problem area is around my mouth. One other thing I do to keep my skin dry (I have oily skin): I go tanning a few times a week. This dries out my pores and has cleared up about 95% of my skin. And the benefit...you look great! The only bad thing is it greatly increases chances of skin cancer, and it's a pretty expensive treatment for acne. It's a win or loose situation, I guess. But that's what works the best for me so far. Now I will try to lay off the soda and see how much that helps. Hope this was some what useful. Good Luck!

Clear.now (pronounced clear - dot - now)
It’s a 3-step acne treatment system utilizing patent-pending sodium chlorite combined with salicylic acid to keep pores clean, clear, and cared for.
I've been using it for about a year....after a couple of weeks I started to notice a dramatic difference. It even got rid of the dark marks that came up on my nose from wearing glasses for 6 years!
It's been a long time since I've had any serious breakouts...and when I do, usually around a woman’s monthly nature calling...lol....I use an Artistry Acne Blemish Spot Treatment, the blemish reduces overnight!

I have not tried proactive. I have found that the products that have benzoyl peroxide work much better than the porducts that have saliyic acid. Read the labels. Also, make sure you are not using a soap or cleanser that has alcohol in it. Alcohol will absorb oil in your skin and then your skin will produce an excess and you'll never get rid of it. Wash your face twice a day with an oil free/alcohol free cleanser and then put on a product with benzoyl peroxide. Good Luck!

1) St. Ive's Oil Free Apricot Cleanser
2) Stridex Pads With Aloe...if acne is really bad use stridex power pads (be sure to use 2 pads at each use, one to get off the first dirt and the other to heal acne) DO NOT WASH THE PADS SOAP OFF LET UR FACE DRY OR IT WONT WORK
3) When face is dry rub hydrogen peroxide on the acne.
As for the oily face use oil free powder to cover it up b/c i have the same problem and i am still trying to find a product that works....will tell the world when i find one tho.....warning: CLEARSIL DOESNT WORK!!!!!
this combo truely works wonders......and if that doesn't work keep trying different products you'll eventually find something that works

You've got to get the grease out of your pores or it will come back.
I suggest washing your face with regular, full strength household bleach and 80 grit sandpaper, followed by an acetone rinse. It sounds bad but you want to get rid of it, don't you? Then for the next few days you need to pick at it. Fortunately you only need to do this about once a month and all the supplies are readily available at your friendly hardware store. Hope this helps.

If what your dermotologist gave you isnt working tell him/her. Over the counter medicine isnt going to work alone. Accutane will definitly clear it up for a period of time or it might not come back at all. I went on it twice. Then I started to break out again ans she perscribed Ziana- acne gel and she put me on an antibiotic again. The Ziana gel works wonders, it dried up my pimples and they all went away. I still use it every day morning and night. You should ask about Ziana and/or accutane.
Good luck!

well i have been using the loreal acne response system for about 2 months and its made a good diffrence with my skin . i have mild acne and its made a diffrence in my skin. i also use the loreal intense scne peel. both are to be used together. the peel is great. you use the peel 2 times a week and use the loreal acne response system on the other days. it does not cost too much money. it cost about $21-24.00 . i get mine from target for 21.99.
you can also check the loreal website . with any product you use be patient , consistent with your regimen , in some cases it may get worse before it gets better. and refer to your doctor again. pro activ is also good to.
