I am sure it is not a choice. Why would anyone choose something that will cause them ostracism, judgments, unkindness and all the other burdens which would accompany a choice?

I think the manner you comport yourself is important. Because I am in the health care field, I know and have many very close friends I love and respect so much.

I think it is unwise to "flame" especially when among groups of people where many are intolerant. I think it is a personal matter to only be shared with your gay friends,(and tolerant straight friends) there are many of us.

God Bless you and please give you strength and joy in this life. June

Whether one believes it is a choice or not really is not the argument that one would make in reference to what the bible says about it. What I mean is that the bible does not differentiate it to be acceptable if you are born with it and unacceptable if you choose. Instead, it is very clear that it is wrong. 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 / Romans 1:27 / 1 Timothy 1:10 --- all make it very clear that God disapproves of the lifestyle.

This topic actually opens the door for other topics --- Is a compulsive thief born that way, compulsive gambler, murderer, drunkard, sex addict, violent, etc., etc., etc.

Many people have imbalances in their brain making them violent and they kill somebody, but it is still against the law and they are punished for it. Ones who have alcoholics in their family feel they may need to be cautious around alcohol or they too may become one.

I can't tell you if it is a choice or not, however, 1 Corinthians 6:11 says that it was what some of you WERE. Even today, there are those who are former homosexuals, you don't hear about them because, let's be honest, it doesn't fit the political agenda.

What I am getting at is, whether it is a choice or not, our responsibility to God does not change. Even if we have that urge, it is our responsiblilty not to let it get the best of us just as if we had the urge to steal, murder, or get drunk, also disapproved by God.

In the future, when God ends this system of things, we can be sure if we have done all we could to please him, these kind of issues will be taken care of.

You are born with certain desires and needs. What you do with those desires and needs is where the differences come in to play.

Since you are asking in religion and spirituality, let me explain from this perspective. Most of us realize that people who are homosexuals are born with these qualities. Many gays and lesbians act different, so I believe it is something you are born with.

But what many Christians are up in arms about are the choices a person makes. You have a choice in whom you have a relationship with and the activities you choose. Just as a straight person can choose to be in a relationship with another person or to choose not to be in a relationship, the same goes for a homosexual.

Homosexuality is a behavior. It is you that makes the choice. You were not born with it. It is the way you think about your preferences. You CAN change your preferences if you ask God to help you.

I think being gay can be part of your personality make up that you were born with. It's your choice to nurture it, be open about it or to suppress it and stay in the closet.

I don't believe homosexuality is a choice any more than heterosexuality is a choice. Don't worry. Be happy.

No, I don't think it's a choice. It's partly genetic and prenatal; You have no control over it.

I, personally believe, that it is a choice that is rooted in events in early childhood.
As a Preacher, writer and Evangelist I have no other choice but to believe it is wrong.
But that doesn't mean I hate you.
