100 is the average, but it also depends how old you are, if you're young then this is a good score, if older it is an okay score. However, IQ tests only measure a very small part of your overall intelligence, they do not test musical intelligence, manual/dexterity intelligence etc, they tend to focus on maths, English, shape rotation, rule finding etc. they are also limited as the more tests you do, the better you will become at them, this is a significant flaw as the test is not a direct measure of intelligence. Knowing your IQ level is not very meaningful, measurement of experiences and skills is more directly linked to ones intelligence.

IQ tests measure a very narrow band of ability or aptitude, and by themselves mean very little. There are many people who would be considered gifted or genius, but who never amount to anything. On the other hand, there are lots of people with score far lower than 97 who are incredibly successful in life.
A measure of your emotional quotient (your EQ) is probably a far better predictor of how you're likely to get on in life. If your score is average or above average in that, you'll be more than ok!
An IQ score of 97 is absolutely ok, by the way - it's about the same as most of the people you meet on the street.

It depends what you mean by "ok". If you mean normal, then yes. "Normal" means at the norm, or average. Average for any IQ test is standardized to be 100, and a difference of 3 points is not statistically significant. How well does an IQ test measure actual intelligence? That is continuously argued about by people who score way above average.
But if your feeling of self-worth is tied to the score on a test, no score can ever be good enough. For everything else, 97 is perfectly acceptable, and better than that of anyone who said "No, it is quite low."

An IQ of 1 is the intelligence of a rock, while 200 is about as smart as Einstein. While 97 is below average, It's not that far behind. Anyway, you could always take it again and get a higher score so it's not all bad.

If you look at Michele A's answer your 97 fits almost in the middle of the average scores from 85-115... So 97 is not below average as people seem to be saying. It is, in fact, pretty spot-on for the average, so yes it is definitely an OK score.
So well done you (if it is your score) :)

Thing is.. IQ can and will change.. You might take the test and fail on several things but then taking it agian... another day you might pass on more things.. Due to the process of learning. Much of the brains learning is done when sleeping.. I.e... You are presented with a puzzle that you spend alot of time on and perhaps come to the wrong conclusion but whilst asleep the brain puts things in better order and when you wake and try the same puzzle again you may very well come to completely different conclusions.. So the rule is to carry on trying, practising and learning. Try your test again and again.. Also researching the puzzles you find hard with the internet. When you learn something knew your intelligence rises..
Depending on your brain and how much time you put in... your iq level could raise considerably in a week!

in case you've been smart, you probable does no longer be asking this question....or maybe you only pick someone to praise you. you probably did ok on your classes, in common words 3% of the others scored an similar or better than you. this is a evaluation score. To get an primary experience of ways you analyze to at least some thing of relax, you pick to take a nationwide standardized attempt. interior the intervening time, communicate with a counselor about explaining your attempt outcomes to you...

WHen I was 12 I had a score of 139. Seems pretty high for my age but I haven't taken it again since. 100 would be the Average of the UK. Your're just 3 points below it. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you are that concerned, try taking it again and try harder.

Yes it is okay. An average score would be 100. so half the population might expect to fall below 100 and half above 100.
You would not have learning difficulties with reading or comprehension. You might struggle with complex and technical langauge, but you would expect to go to mainstream school, obtain exam results and consider college or university.

Don't get hung up on IQ tests. They rarely measure the intelligence of anyone. Work hard and read a lot. That will get you where you want to go.
