I work for a family doctor and I wonder the same thing. But then so many have a handicap that is not visible to others....such as heart conditions, many that you can't see with the eye.
But yes, the system is abused, I know a lot of cases where ones have gotten it for their "nerves" yet they go to beer joints on weekends, get high, work for cash, etc.
So, yes the system is flawed, but don't give up if you truly are handicapped.....they expect you to have to pay a lawyer to get on it.

A place I worked, we had a young lady that laid down on the floor and claimed she had fallen. Said ever after her back hurt too much to work. She went on disability at age 20. When she was being investigated, the person doing so told me her husband was also on disability because he said that while cutting a piece of telephone wire with diagonal cutters something "went sprong" in his arm, and it now hurt too much to work.
In both cases there was nothing that could be found by doctors that would account for these pains, but the investigator told me he had no doubt that they would be collecting for a long time.
But I have first-hand experience with serious injuries that were life changing that were ignored completely, to the extent that the Dept. of Labor sent out a form that had to be returned within 30 days of the date on it, and the postmark was 28 days into that time period.

The world is totally and completely unfair. NOBODY gets a break. Sometimes when people really need help the cannot afford it. Some systems allow people with special needs a cut back on the price. You should check out a lot of different medical systems online. After all thats what a search engines for!

This society rewards people that lay on their *** all day and for some reason people that work all their lives then end up disabled are treated crappy and can't get a helping hand!

I know! I know! Because sooooo many people scam the govn't out of this money. They have forced the govn't to tighten the reigns and make it more difficult for honest people.
