Well, your question was about dental hygiene, and yes, taking good care of your teeth will definitely improve their appearance. Brushing with whitening toothpaste will improve the color of your teeth, but the best and most effective way to achieve a whiter smile is to have your teeth professionally whitened at your dentist. However, some of the over-the-counter products work well. I have tried Crest Whitestrips Premium in the past, and they whitened my teeth a few shades (enough to get compliments). :)

Dental hygiene takes care of the teeth so they get stronger. Whitening may weaken the tooth enamel, thus it is cosmetics only!

Crest White Strips work okay, unless you can afford the $400 - $600 for the professional procedure at the dentist.
