have been having abdominal pain for awhile. About a month ago I kept getting these stomache pains but I kept thinking maybe because I was getting my period. Now my period is over and I am still getting these pains. I was wondering if it can be related to irritible bowel syndrome since I was diagnosed awhile back with it. I do go to the bathroom at least once a day(bowel movement) and I also have cystitis so can that be related too? I tried prune juice and metamucel and I did have a few bowel movements but the pain is still there. Can it take time to work? Do you think the cystitis has anything to do with IBS? I am urinating alot as well. Any ideas would be great.

Hi AK27

Here is a POA to help heal the issue.

Causes
IBS can be caused by a variety of factors, including poor diet and nutrition, food allergies, imbalanced levels of hydrochloric acid, impaired immunity, infections, lack of exercise, pharmaceutical drugs, and stress.

Quick Action Plan for IBS

1. Avoid all sugars, refined flour products, and carbohydrates, milk and dairy products, processed foods that contain preservatives and artificial sweeteners, alcohol, hydrogenated and trans-fatty oils, as well as foods that are common allergens.

2. Emphasize organic, fresh vegetables and non-citrus fruits, organic grains, as well as organic, free-range meats and poultry and wild-caught fish.

3. Drink plenty of pure, filtered water throughout the day.
Cleansing and Detoxification therapy such as short fasts, elimination diets, and colonics.

4. Enteric-coated peppermint oil and aloe vera juice.

5. Soothing baths two to five nights a week, as well as alternating hot and cold water packs placed over the abdomen.

6. Use Probiotics and soil-based organisms.

7. Therapeutic juices include wheatgrass juice; cabbage, papaya, and carrot juice.

8. Stress reduction techniques, such as biofeedback, hypnosis, and meditation.

9. If you are a smoker, stop and refrain from taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.

10. Examine the possibility of withheld emotions as the cause of your symptoms and get support through emotional and physical expression, especially movement therapies such as NIA, Qi gong, Yoga or Total Integration Therapy to name a few options.

Best of health to you

The pains you are expiriencing may be muscle spasms in your intestines. I have the same problem (but I am a guy, so everything but the periods). They should stop soon, try not to do anything too strenuous. The Cyst my be an issue as well. If the pains persist for a few more weeks, I'd go see a doctor because these are also symtoms of ulcers.

IBS can alternate between diarrhea cramping pains and constipation cramping pains. You want to try and watch you diet and eat in moderation things that cause problems (ie nuts, seeds, popcorn....soda pop, salad greens, caffeine drinks...

Try not to go a long time without eating and then eat a big huge meal... that can cause problems sometimes ..

It feels like the flu sometimes (nausea and stomach pains)..

Metamucil might be ok...prune juice if constipation (in moderation)..

Cystitis is a separate issue from irritable bowel syndrome...IBS is thought to be related to some other disorders, esp. hyperactive bladder...(ie.gotta go, gotta go commercial..)

You can get presciptions for antispasmotics (ie. levsin) and /or anti-anxiety pills (anxiety contributes to the attacks)..

It sounds exactly like IBS to me. I've had an IBS for a few years now (bad side-effect to gardasil HPV shot) and believe me, I know an IBS. I would go to your doctor if you can, or perhaps try yoga, focusing on poses that will aid the digestive system. If you're having an especially rough time, try putting a hot water bottle or heating pad on top of a towel, on top of castor oil (which you rub onto your abdomen). The castor oil will penetrate the body better with heat, and lower inflammation as it soothes. Meanwhile, drink lots of water.

I'm lactose intolerant and I have IBS. it sounds like it is your IBS, do you have any medicine for it? If so then take it now.
