I am currently serving in the Army and im in Iraq for the 2nd time in the almost 5 years Ive been in.

Should you join the military you ask? well according to some of the answers Ive read here so far, Im a complete Idiot that fights for Bush and his oil. How appreciative americans are of their soldiers eh? But I garuntee they wouldnt have the balls to say that to your face. Anyway the Army is a good job overall, you get full benefits for yourself and your family, you get money for college, and you (while in the states) get every federal holiday off, usually atleast once a month we a 3day weekend. I get about $1000 a month extra ontop of my pay check to pay rent and buy food. Plus since I joined when I was 19 I can retire when Im 39, get another job do that for 20 years and retire from that when im 59 and have two retirement checks every month plus social security. Its not bad at all.

The military is a good place for anyone, and no matter what happens (unemployment, depression, nuclear holochuast, alien invasion) whatever it is, you will always have a job and being taken care of by the military.

Yes, you should and let me thank you in advance for defending my freedom if you join. It is because of people like you who care about your nation and who put their lives on the front lines to defend my way of life and the way of life of over 300 million US citizens is what makes America ,America. God bless you and all other servicemen/women of the US Military.
As to where to join do your research. In the US military there is no such thing as a bad branch. All of the branches of the US military are the best in the world. So, join that which you like and you find fascinating.

That's a good question, and the answer is different for everyone. For me, I decided to join the military because i need to get away from my family and needed to find out for myself what i was capable of. There are many advantages and disadvantages of the military, all of which you need to investigate yourself. Try talking to your local military recruiters, they have useful information that can help you make a decision.

If you think that it will benefit you in what you want to do in life then sure.

I would suggest the Air Force or the Coast Guard. If your looking to get a military tenure on your life resume, but want to stay out of any "combat zone", then they are your best bets.

I'd say the Navy as well, but I think we are going to duke it out with Iran soon and the Navy will definitely be in the crossfire.

Ask one of the parents that lost a child in the Iraq war(not trying to be sarcastic). I'm sure those kids thought of the rewards of joining the army had to offer too, but they didn't get to reap the full benefits. Its up to you if you want to serve.
