Well that depends on the type of monkey. If ones monkey is a chimp then on no account must one let it partake of the food in case of nut allergies which they may or may not be prone to. If however it's a baboon then yes by all means you may bring it to the dance but one must retain some sort of control with use of cages for the sophisticates so they mayn't spoil the monkeys fun. Oh bog that reads wrong ohhhhhhh never mind it's to late.

a rabid monkey is not only dangerous its also unhealthy its a big no no in polite society - a small friendly monkey who isnt at all threatening is however perfectly acceptable

No. You are not allowed to bring monkeys unless you are a gypsy, an organ grinder or a pirate. An ape is fine however.

By all means - anything to relieve the tedium of a society dinner dance.

Why not bring a whole zoo full of deranged animals and have them run lose?

It is in appropriate to take any form of animal/animals to any formal settings.Ask a friend or pay a baby sitter to sit with your monkey.
