Can dogs catch colds and infections and sickness in general from people

They don't catch our colds or get our flu bugs...but we make them sick with the lack of exercise, the chemicals we put in their foods and in their bodies, and the mental stress any dog goes through trying to figure out what kind of weird animal we are and what exactly we want from them.
