I was diagnosed with it about 5 yrs ago, but I know I've had it forever. I took Lexapro for about 2 yrs and it really worked good. I decided to go off of it because it was expensive and i have no insurance and I have just been trying to "be normal" on my own. It's been working out pretty good so far. hahaha!

Well we are all obsessive about something. I'm pretty sure a loose definition of OCD is when it impacts on your life to such an extent it stops you from living your life. So for example always wanting to sit in the same chair . . . But it becomes OCD when you actually carry the chair around with you, (or don't sit anywhere till you actually fall over) because you genuinely believe you can't sit in another chair. It starts as a preference, and unless tackled will wreak your life.

I'm starting to think people who inhabit this site are getting OCD. This need to answer questions, accurately, and help other people! Ignore the nutters, they are the brain dead and the useless. Concentrate on those who take time to answer your question fully and spell check their answers so they look good. OCD all the way!

My x girlfriend had it. Poor girl. I felt so sorry for her. I had it pretty bad when i was small. I used to have to sit up and down 5 times before going to the bathroom and if any number i was adding ended up with the letter 6 in it, i would have to raise up my arms and then shoot them down again really fast. At school, i couldnt do this of course so i would pinch myself really hard instead. I had many more but i would be typing for ages to tell you them all.
Im 90% cured now and any remaining symptoms are well hidden.

I'm 16 and i haven't been "diagnosed" with ocd but i'm pretty sure that I have it. I haven't told my parents, especially because I don't want them to be dissapointed. I wanted to go to college and then go into the military as an officer but I have a feeling that I will have to change my life plans.

Listen to what i do..
When I get undressed, even though i KNOW i locked the door, i have to go back to the door and touch it to make sure its locked. EVen when im in the shower i get out of the shower sometimes to make sure the doors are locked. Also if im on the toilet i have to hold the door shut in a stall even though its locked RIGHT INFRONT OF ME. Its completely rediculous.
I also have another routine i do where in my math class, i take out my calculator and i do the problem over and over and over becuase im scared it will be wrong. And even though i KNOW ive done it 5 times and its right i have to do the problem again. and even if i move onto another problem, at the end of the test ill go back to that one problem and do it over and over and over. i take medicine but it still doesnt help with some routines. if you have any advice, on how to stop these routines let me know. anyone!
