If you like your dads name you should name your future baby like that.Maybe your brother might get married but might not have kids.I think you should name it after your father.

Out of respect talk to your brother about it. If he is normal and decent he will be happy to let you use the name. If he is a weirdo about it, sorry. Also be sure to mention that if you use the name, you do not own the name. He can use it too for a first or middle name for his future kids. No one has ever died from having a cousin with the same name. (last names would be different anyway)

Why not use your dads middle name or use your dads first name in the baby's middle name? It would mean more to your brother since he kept the last name... Hopefully this was helpful!!

I think that's an awesome idea to honor your father, I'd just mention it to your brother that you'd like to honor your dad in that way, maybe use your dad's first name as your child's second name...with you brother not attached who's to say the woman he marries will want that name...but to be respectful I'd just mention it to him.

name your baby what you want to. the last name will probably be different anyway. if your brother should choose the same name, you can always choose a nick name for one or both children so they won't be confused when they are together. my dads name was Bob, my brother was Bobby, and my cousin was Bobby Allen. it worked just fine.

its great that you want to do that. i say follow your heart or turn to god for your answer. me and my wife have a 6 month old son we too had a hard time deciding at first of what to name him when he was born. so we went to our ancestors and came up with the name of Connor Austin. i wish the very best to you and hope things go well in your delivery. take care and god bless.

I would definetally ask him about it, he will probably give you dibbs seeing your having the kid first... the eldest grandchild should get the name in my opinion.
Good luck...
