This is a question you should ask your pharmacist. It's not OK to crush certain pills, but others it is OK. If you have a lot of trouble swallowing pills, then maybe you should try the birth control patch?

First make be sure of what type of pill you took. If it was Ibuprofen, aspirin or Aleve here is some more information. Ibuprofen falls into the drug category of NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSAID) and may cause "ulcers, bleeding, or holes in the stomach or intestine". Thus, you should refrain from crushing it up. An enteric coating on the outside of these pills prevents the medicine from breaking up and getting absorbed in the stomach. Instead it travels to the small intestine before being absorbed. Ibuprofen can be taken with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. If you have trouble swallowing pills, you can also get ibuprofen in "chewable tablet, suspension (liquid), and drops (concentrated liquid)" form.

As long as it isn't an extended relief/time release medication it's fine to crush it.
If you have trouble swallowing pills get a shot glass or something small and practice tossing them to the back of your throat, then drinking your water.
ALWAYS drink plenty of fluids with your pill to help avoid stomach irritation, and check to make sure whether to take them before eating or with food...
(I hate swallowing pills, too)

I don't see a problem with crushing these meds and putting them with applesause or something like that. If you ever have any questions about crushing medication you can always call a local pharmancy and and ask to speak to a pharmacist. Some meds you can not crush.

be very careful, consult with your pharmacist, some pills are designed for a slow release, so crushing the pill causes all of the drug to be absorbed at the same time and can result in a fatal overdose. crushing pills can also cause some not to work
be safe ask you pharmacist first

If it is written as Gastro resistant, Enteric coated, or Modified release, they are supposed to swallow instead of chewing or crushing. ( they suppose to go down, till small bowel where they are absorbed to body )
Otherwise, should be fine!

Yes you can crush up your pills, and take them in foods. Many people can't swallow pills, and its ok. I crush mine, and put them in foods, and then I will drink something hot like hot chocolate, or tea to dissolve quicker, and to get it in my system quicker.
