Instead of asking them to prove a negative I would ask them to prove that life can come from lifelessness.. Tell us by scientific means just how this happens. Not how they think it happened but an explanation of how it really happened and proof of that explanation... Jim

There is not a Proof that god doesnt exist. I Dont believe that there is a god but would you agree with me that somewhere at some point something must have come from nothing? If there IS a god, and he might be somewhere in space or being this enormous energy mass, and maybe he could speak to us, I dont think we would call it God, maybe we would call him, Nebula X360ZY. One night where there are no clouds, lay back, and look up at the sky and think, maybe someone somewhere is wondering how its like here?
Science proves Religion wrong all the time, but what science cant prove Religion can say that they are right, even though you dont believe it. we can say that they have no proof, they can say the same about us. There is no scientific proof that god doesnt exist, there is no scientific proof that there is either, but in the deep inside of us, dont we wish there was one, I mean, atheists are more of the "Cant see, cant believe" kind of person, I dont believe in a god, but I wish I could, because Id like to know that maybe when I die I could still live with my family, and still have everyone I loved and cared about, See Italy win the world cup again. By the way, you spelled "Exhist" wrong...Twice, God may or may not exist, but if there was a Scientific proof that he doesnt exist, what would it change in our daily lives, except Extremists going wild?

Don't be silly.
Why would an atheist claim that science has proven that God doesn't exist?
I've been here pretty regularly for several months, and I can't say I've seen more than a couple of confused people say anything remotely like that. It's simply not true that you "keep seeing this posted that science has proven that God doesn't exhist [sic]". You just made that up.
Now, I may be wrong about that. Go ahead and post, oh, let's say five links to places on Y!A where atheists said that they had scientific proof that god doesn't exist. If you can do that, I'll apologize.
Put your money where your mouth is.

You can't prove something doesn't exist when it is a non existent boogie man that supposedly lives in all space and time, and is invisible to us. And if you would go to any court in the world and study law and burden of proof you would quickly realize the responsibility to prove something rests in the one making the claim. In case your confused that would be religion who created god. So exit the back of the courtroom tail end first now, thank you come again.

If we did the christians would just say God isn't found there, or state that 'God can never be found', or some obscure irrelevant bible quote.
What's the point in trying to prove something against which people believe in so strongly no matter how illogical it is (they live in their own little fantasy world), AND THEN they ignore what they are told about the world and all which has been almost definitely been proven via scientific method? Look at christians & evolution.
There's not even a decent description of what God is, christians argue amongst themselves about that.
Lets start by proving dinosaurs are a hoax and a conspiracy, then we can move onto proving the existance of the tooth-fairy, and then God.

It's not possible to prove a negative, and I don't think anyone has made any such claim on behalf of science. I think it's probably true that the more science we learn, the farther religion recedes into history.
Besides -- as others have said -- it's not up to us to come up with proof. The burden of proof is on the one making the claim -- for example:
- "infection is caused by tiny organisms called bacteria,"
- "the earth orbits the sun and not vice versa,"
- "widespread vaccinations will prevent smallpox epidemics," or
- "god exists."
That's how it works.
And no, I'm not asking for the impossible. Of the four scientific assertions I listed, three were proved by many years of observation, experimentation, testing and re-testing. If you expect your assertion to be taken seriously, you'll have to come up with something similar.
I repeat: That's how it works.

Science can't really say anything on the matter of God, by definition. God is a supernatural being. Science is the study of the natural world. God can't be empirically tested.
However, logic and reasoning can make God's existence to appear highly unlikely.

I'm an agnostic who has been using this forum for a long time and has never seen a post saying that.
There is no empirical evidence proving the existence of deities nor is there any empirical proof showing that they don't exist.
Your 'source' is a 2000 year old book that is really nothing more than verbal legend passed along until someone has written it down. How do you verify the accuracy of what is in there or do you take it on faith that it is truth. There is no proof of it's truth.
Unless you can also, to quote you, 'put your money where your mouth is' I'd say you have no real business pointing fingers.

There is no proof acceptable to science that God exists or does not exist. Many R&S people will tell you that it's up to you to prove He does exist, not up to them to prove He does not.
But that's not how science works. First you have a theory, then scientists begin to try to disprove the theory. If they cannot disprove it, eventually it is accepted. So isn't it hypocrisy that they don't apply the same standards here?
