My family fav things to do is swimming, snorkeling or scuba diving. Well i think you dnt have to get their attention to do fun things together. But learn what they enjoy to do and what they loves to talk about . By doing these kinda things you can get along with yr kids, very well. Try to look for time, coz time wont look for you, weekend is the best time to spend with yr family. Make sure that you watch the movie together, do something that benefit all them. As a family sure you will find something that all you enjoy doing together, example like watching soap opera together. Try to look for something same interest is the best way to get family together.

My kids are now ages 14, 17 and 20. I don't so much primarily focus on finding fun things to do as I notice natural everyday moments and ' enliven ' them.
Example . . .
.
When they were younger and it was raining outside I would say to them..." lets go out in the backyard and feel the rain " We could always go inside and dry off, get warm again. Yet, to experience that moment of it not being too cold outside and feeling the rain on our face was fun.
I would put them in a wagon at night with them reclined back, put a blanket over them and pull them around the block for a peaceful star gazing outing.
When the sun was bright outside we would lay on the grass, I'd notice a flower and pick it. I'd hold up a single flower petal so the sun would shine through it and I'd bring attention to my children to notice the veins that were within that flower petal. It was almost as if looking at stain glass art.
I'd set up a tent in the back yard during the summer for a few days and they'd play in it during the day and sometimes slept in it at night. The automatic sprinklers were of course turned off during the time the tent was set up. The grass got a bit brown...but, so what...my kids were experiencing fun moments and the grass will always return to green again once the tent is down.
For years now, even just recently, when we would be driving home and a good song comes on the radio...we'd crank up the volume and they would say to me " Mom, let's keep driving around the block till the song is over ".
Of course, we did share pizza and d.v.d. at home nights . . . played board games . . . set up a puzzle table and keep working on it for several days as we walked passed it.
But, some favorite moments were / are the spontanious ' doing fun things together ' family moments.
.

It sounds like you're not having fun time or am I misreading your question.
When I want to spend time with my family I let my feelings knwon, my dad and mom are married but my dad works abroad so we don't really get a full 'family time' but when he comes over we make an effort.
Leave all phones at home, when your in the car turn the radio off and start a discussion about a topic so everyone can express their views. also telling your family how much they mean to you may sound dorky and embarrassing but believe me they're grateful for it :)
hope that helps.

No I started early out, when my kids were young. Friday nite was family night in my house. If the kids had a good week at school, we the parents did things THEY wanted to do. This went well until they started to grow up then family night moved to a night that wasn't Friday cause they had things to do. My kids still curl up in my bed on Saturday for Saturday morning cartoons when they are home...

even as my toddlers were youthful I had little or no funds - no longer something for leisure. I used to take them to the library - there are loose tale situations and we may inspect books with assistance from the dozen. we may make forts out of blankets and the chairs. Play "I secret agent"; bypass on walks and assemble leaves, pine cones, etc. even as they were older we may play charades. Have a movie nighttime - employ some video clips and make popcorn - camp out on the living room floor. The list is countless - merely use your mind's eye. yet another element is to commence putting a dollar or 2 away in a jar and once a month purchase a sparkling board sport.

we set aside wednesday nights as a TV free day and play family games together ,like monopoly etc. This is also our time to discuss things that happen during the week ,as we usually do this at dinner time anyway.

We want to do more things together as we do enjoy the things we get to do when we get to do them. Hubby owns his own heating air corporation so he is not home during the week very much and the weekends are sometimes just as busy with the boy's sports activities.
