Lots of people. I suffered from depression for many years from my late teens to my mid twenties. Please go to your GP and tell him / her how you are feeling. Talking to people can help - ask your GP about counselling. If you feel very very low go to

Or go to

http://www.mind.org.uk/

and click on 'Mind in your area' for local support.

Please don't suffer in silence.

A lot more people suffer with depression than you realise. I suffered from it, but I spoke about it a lot to my friends and people I met. Many people said "oh yes I suffer from depression too" which I never knew. People are afraid of being labelled. Personally I talk about it as much as possible so other people know how to react if they, or a family/friend start to suffer from it.
If everyone spoke the truth, many many people suffer from it, probably half of your town do, they just don't admit it.

i suffered from depression and anxiety attacks for years. But reading the posts on here i think that depression is to easy a label to give somebody!! WHY?? because there is a big difference from being depressed and feeling down in the dumps enuf said. I mean that if you go to the docs feeling unhappy you are immediately labelled as depressed (as a pose to feeling down) the more people tell you that you are depressed the more you feel depressed - a vicous circle

I suffer from depression since the end of November, i don't feel any better and has been difficult my GP has just put my meds up and if they don't work I'm being moved onto some others. I did go to a counsellor for a while but it didn't work for me, but i did have a specific friend who i could talk to. hope this helps!

I am responding to your question assuming that you are not doing a headcount for some paid survey report and also that you also seem to be a victim of this sad and unlucky ailment.
My daughter has been suffering from depression for the past three decades. Medicines help but the problem persists and also life without medicines becomes exceedingly difficult. Counseling, though widely recommended does not work at all for my daughter. may be, it is too late for her now for it. However, medicines have helped in the sense that she is not aggressive and violent and gets more of normal moments than ever before.
If you have this problem, please take a cue from this old and chronic case--it is all controllable; right therapy, right diagnosis, right medicines and right time are vital factors. All the best and from the core of my heart!

I've suffered with depression for quite a few years now. I have been toevery quack asking for advice. In the end I took the advice of a old drinking partner. He said stick on some running shoes and burn your agression.
Granted that sounded ****. However with exercise I realise it altered my mind. within 6 months I had a new job, new attitude and now I'm in a relationship that I like. (Yes, be in a relationship with someone you like for gods sake - not who your friends like but you!) Don't let some doctor fill you with pills.Get hold of YOURSELF and do something you want.

I could go on for hours. Depression is excess energy which does not get used up. i got rid of my debt and my negative thoughts by simply not listening to my 'friends' who spend stupid money and left me feeling like a bum all the time. You have to demand you are treated equal. If not

Screw em'

Put on some trainers now and go for a walk.

I had 5 breakdowns since last feb and since then have only left the house 11 times. I get a little better every day and try my hardest to keep the positive thoughts up. The cause for these breakdowns came from bottleing up any pain or sadness since the day i was born. Now, i speak my mind. If i want to cry, i will cry. If im angry, i tell someone.

There are a lot more than you think, you do not help them by putting it on here , it depresses me to think of you being depressed, try reading the daily papers and see what Tony Blair and his cronies have done to this country and you will see the whole country is depressed, even if you want to fly away they tax you now for doing that.

I suffered from depression for many years until finding a purely natural fruit juice called Xango with no 'compressed chemicals' in sight! It has helped me back to a better frame of mind, better health and, also given me something to do as I am now a distributor for it. I now get tremendous pleasure and lots of fun in selling and promoting this wondefull juice.
