As a teenager, my face was perfect. Around the age of 20, I started getting acne. Now I am 35 and have been battling it for 15 years. The breakouts are sometimes mild, sometimes severe (I am going through a severe period now). In 2003, I switched to Proactiv and it worked wonders...but as of 6 months ago, it seems to quit working and I can count about 10 very large red bumps on my face now. (Yucky to look at). I'm convinced I have a hormonal issue causing this - yes, it does strike more at a certain time of the month. BUT, my question to you today is for those of you who have this problem...or know of someone with this problem...what have you done to make it better? Please be specific...and if a prescription drug, please let me know that as well (I'm not against asking my doctor for the prescription). P.S. - I'd love to hear back from anyone recently prescribed with the new birth control pill/acne medication Yaz. I think it was just approved by the FDA.

I have tried the dermatologist in the past...he/she never helped much. The topical cream dries out skin, makes it tight and HURTS. The antibiotics didn't seem to do anything. Everything I did find a (temporary) solution, it was OTC.

I am in my 50's and still get pimples because I still have such an oily skin. I control it with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide, either Clearasil or Oxy 10. I use it every night. And, if I have an existing pimple, I put the medicine on that area several times during the day after washing my face. It clears up within a few days.

I have acne in the same spots you do! Currently I barely have any acne (but I still put on facewash in case)! I was on the chubby side lol so I stopped eating greasy food, junk food, soda, etc. Not only did I lose weight but my acne decreased about 50%! I also drank lots of water to hydrate my skin. I use AcneFree exfoliating wash and the AcneFree Zit cream. It contains Benzoyl Peroxzide, and that chemical was the only thing that got rid of my acne. Its very strong but you shouldn't use it everyday because it can dry out your face. I also use a face wash called Herbalism, you can get many great face washes that suit your face at LUSH (where I got mine). I also rinse my face with cold water, after a run, just woke up, about to go to school/work, anything involving going outside. Washing my face helped lower my oil buildup on my face during the day. Hope this helps you! Good luck toward flawless skin! :)

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...

Could be gal bladder. I had the same problem. I didn't have it removed I just have to watch what I eat. I can't have any fat (especially trans fats like fast food). If I do I break out. Eat more baked foods and stay away from fried.

Go see your doctor or dermatoligist. He or she will most likley put you on a low dose birth control pill to help regulate your hormones, or they might prescribe anti-biotics. In additition they may also prescibe a topical cream. Best wishes!
