Is there a legitimate unsecured Credit card that I could get with a $300.00 start limit? Many that I have looked at that offer this, charges you for all kinds of fees that eat up most all of the credit that you get on the card. I just want a card to start with, to build up my credit. Are there any that don't charge an arm and a leg?

Get a secured one and reapply after you have established credit. Also consider some of the cards the banks push you to apply for at sporting events, where they'll give you a free t-shirt or towel or other junk item.

The junk cards they sell at CVS are just the same as gift cards. They never associate with you personally, they'll never show up on your credit rating and will get you nowhere. And the fees charged are ridiculous.

from my experience i got a capitol one card very easily when i had NO credit. also providian gave me a card. but i believe the start up fee was still around 100 and left me with around 150-200 limit. i can't remember, but i would try those 1st. it might be zero start up fee? but if you are willing to bite the bullet, you can start with tribute, total, rewards 660, continental and a few others out there. but they are ligit. you get like 50-100 dollars credit just for applying and the send you a bill around 200, but you pay 20 dollars at a time. it's not such a bad deal. even though i'm not an expert, i would guess that if there was such a GREAT card with no charges to set up, i think everyone would have it? or have heard of it at least.... right?

citibank and capital one are the biggest issues of starter credit cards
but if you get turned down
and you do not have 300
then frankly you do don't deserved credit as it take money to get money
if you have 300 you can get a secure credit card via Bank Of America and it will not eat up fees like Orchard and others will for the secured card, once you have shown a history of paymentsm typically in 6 mons your deposit will be sent back and you card will be unsecured

I would try Capital One. I know they start off with a 300.00 limit an annual fee (I think it is about $70.00). If you pay it on time for 3 months they will raise your limit to 500.00

That is the only legitimate one I know of. The others will try to get you with fees and give you a credit limit of $15 after they charge you.

Good luck

If you go to any store such as CVS, Rite-Aid, etc. in the front of the cashier, you will see a stand that has a lot cards that say MasterCard,Visa, etc. The cashier should be able to assist you if you have questions.

You can purcahse any of those cards and the cashier will put the amount of money you want on the card.

You will use it as a debit card, it is NOT a credit card. When you run out of money on the card add additional money to the card.

Read the fine print, on back of the card, before you buy it..

DO NOT GO WITH CAPITAL ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OR PROVIDIAN FOR THAT MATTER!!!

I HAD THEM BOTH AND ISTARTED OFF WITH A CREDIT LIMIT OF 500.00 AND I AM IN DEBT WITH THEM FOR 3000.00!!! THEY ARE INFAMOUS FOR LATE PAYMENT FEES AND OVER THE LIMIT FEES, THEY JUST KEEP ADDING TO THE AMOUNT MONTH AFTER MONTH!!! WHEN OTHERS STOP AT ABOUT 800.00 CAPITAL ONE AND PROVIDIAN JUST KEEP ON GOING!!!

Do yourself a favor. Don't get a credit card. They are all ripoffs. They entice you into spending money that you don't have, and then they hit you with outrageous interest charges.

Look at how many people are unable to pay their bills. The average American family owes more than $7,000.

I have no credit cards. I have NEVER had money problems. If I don't have the money to buy something, I can't afford it. If you think like that, you will never have people calling you and harrassing you to pay your bills.

Credit cards are for suckers. Cash rules.
