My ol' boy is almost 11 years old. Is he "middle-aged", or has be by-bassed me and become a "Senior Citizen"? All these years, I've been feeding him Friskey's Dental Diet (dry), and Friskey's "Special Diet" (moist), and for "treaties" he likes "Tender Vittles" He "appears" to be putting on a little weight lately, but doesn't feel any heavier, and I won't know for sure until we go to the groomer and get a lot of this long hair off. He is a beautiful, pure-white (one blue eye/one green eye) Turkish Angora. No questions re: feeding. Would just like to know, if anyone else does, for sure--how many "cat years" to "human years". Thanks y'all.

This is a myth based on how quickly small animals age compared to humans. Dogs and Cats experience the same number of years we do.

Sorry to disappoint. Are we going to have mouse years to describe how mice only live about 18 months? I don't think so.

An 11 year old cat is approaching 60 in human years. A fifteen year old cat is 74 and a 20 year old cat is 94.

Veterinarians now consider a cat to be a "senior" at 8-10 years of age. They should have a blood panel done annually to detect any possible problems with kidneys or thyroid problems or diabetes which are common issues for senior cats. It is best to have "base lines" on the blood work even if the cat is not showing any disturbing symptoms.

Hi Sharon...everyone has their own measure of how old cats are which are equivalent to human years. An 11 year young cat is about 60 human years.

Here's several websites that show the age break down equivalents which you can see they vary a little different from one another:

I do believe that Cat years are the same as people. Some cats live to their 20's. Maybe ask your Vet, they would know the correct answer.
