It is only when she is in the garden she seems to be limping. When she goes out for a walk to the park or the beach she is fine. She is running about fetching her ball as normal. Even when she is walking on the lead you cannot notice it. It is her back left leg and we have noticed her kind of limping in the garden. As i say though, this is when she is least active.

Your pup could be feeling pain but the excitement of going out for walks could be masking the pain so she will limp more when she is just pottering around the garden.

The discomfort could be caused by all sorts of things from a thorn in her pad to a muscle strain caused by an injury to a genetic problem with her joints. Although she is only 8 months she could have arthritis!

Have her checked out by the Vet.

You might want to just give her a good looking over- check for swollen joints (as that could be a sign of a out-of-socket limb), swollen bones (which is obviously broken, but if it was broken she wouldn't be moving much at all), and check her feet to see if she has any splinters or glass or rocks stuck in the pads of her feet or in between her toes. It's also a good idea to run your hands up and down her legs gently to see if there are any small holes where she could have been shot with a pellet gun or something. That happened to our dog once. If you don't find anything, then you need to take her to the vet NOW. If you find a broken bone, out-of-socket limb, or a splinter or pellet, you can pretty much take care of it yourself but it's probably a good idea to take her as soon as you possibly can.

I would have her checked out by the vet sooner rather then later.Beeing a lab she is very prone to hip dysplasia which is common in the retreiver breeds and larger dogs.It can get worse with out medication.Did her parents have good hip scores and other family members its very important to check with breeders and ask to see the proof. Also how much exercise does she get a day?Young labradors up untill a yr old should have no more then 20-30mins walks a day,as they need time for there bones to mature and strenuous exercise from young can be damaging.A friend i walk with has a golden retreiver who has hip dysplaysia and he's on good medication, has 30mins exercise a day,and has regular hydrotherapy lessens.Good luck and please get her checked out.

check out her pads to make sure there is nothing stuck in between as it sounds like she only limps when on hard ground. Take her to the vet though as it could be serious at that age.

If you were limping for 3 or 4 days you would probably go to your doctor.

You shouldn't leave any ailment for 3 or 4 days without seeking veterinary advice. Take your dog to a vet, if you can't afford private fees go to the PDSA.

If the dog has been having the problem for a while it is best to have it checked by a vet.

You should take your dog to the vet to see if it's anything that could be serious. Only the vet is going to be able to diagnose the problem.

I wish you luck.
