Just type latest codec or VLC playe in google .
Do one thing try VLC player it plays almost everything recent or old file formats.

Well, u can use mplayer, media player classic which'll play all the formats except real player format without any plug-ins.
Use MPEG encoder, mpeg encoder or something else, using which you can convert the format and play it using normal media player or winamp.
