I know the officials say yes, but I can't help saying no. My dog has had chocolate a number of times, but she is still heathy and happy. Eight years old and not showing any backing down. And my best friend has a pup who ate a few pieces of chocolate and she's doing just fine. But I'm not saying you should purposly feed your dog, but if you drop a little bit of chocolate and your dog eats it, don't get too worryed. It's fine. I know books and stuff say it is deadly, but they also say to rub sun tan lotion on your pet before they go into the sun and not to leave your bird in the dark without a flashlight! A little chocolate won't kill dogs.

Yes, in substantial doses depending on body weight. A chemical in chocolate called theobromine is the source of the problem.

Theobromine is similar to caffeine. Theobromine is toxic to a dog when it ingests between 100 and 150 milligrams per kilogram of body weight.

I love chocolate!! I have fed chocolate to every dog I have ever owned. I have never owned a dog that didn't live to be at least 10 years old. I read some where that to kill a dog with chocolate you would have to feed them there weight in chocolate every day. That would kill anything.

To most, highly. There are a few who have a tolerance (I knew a Terrier type dog who ate one of those huge chocolate Kisses and never even got sick).

A little will make them pretty sick, eating a nice portion of their body weight will kill them. If you're dog's eaten chocolate, rush him/her to the vet. You don't want to chance it.
