The owners that lived here before us had put up wallpaper (the textured type) and then painted over it! Any ideas on what I can do to get the wallpaper off? It's showing under the paint...like I said it's textured.... Any Ideas???

Score through the paint and paper using a scraping knife (be careful not to score the plaster) or use a tool designed for the job - Plasplugs make a rotary paper scorer.

Then use a steam paper stripper with a wide-bladed stripping knife. Once you have cleared a small area, hold the knife at 70-90 degrees to the wall and scrape in long strokes to remove the remaining wet adhesive.

When you've finished, you have a nice, smooth wall that requires minimal sanding before painting.

I did this years ago on our old house.
I rented a wallpaper steamer from like A-Z rental. It was a machine (think iron) that you held against the paper until it gets soft and wet. You do an area then scrape it off with a scraper. It didn't cost much to rent it then so I assume it will still be inexpensive by todays standards.

this is horrible, but i just went through this myself a couple of months ago...use straight AMMONIA ...make sure you cover your mouth and nose, and take breaks every 10 minutes..nothing and i mean nothing on the market works, so don't waste your money or time...honestly this is your best bet....good luck!
