Following up from a previous question asked some moments ago, I think the book of Genesis is awesome.

I know its fiction and don't think any of the charachters are real, except maybe historically Jacob but I'm not sure,

so what do you think of Genesis, who are your favorite charachters?

I think the parts with Adam and Eve are cool, and I also dig the parts where Abraham debates God about the destruction of Sodom, and he says "what if I could go find 50 worthy men, would you not destroy it" and God says "ok" then Abraham says "what if I found 45", I just dig that, God changes his mind cause a man argues with him.

Great story.

As for Revelation . . I've read it, its hard its like a battle plan against the Romans I feel, setting up for an invasion or something.

Yes, Genesis IS a good yarn. I think I like the serpent (though he doesn't really come into his own until Milton develops the character in the 17C).

Can't judge Revelation - the history of its composition (prophesy of the downfall of Rome and the return of the Israelites, etc) is too well known. It's a good piece of political propaganda, so not so good as myth.

What don't you understand about the word "belief". An atheist (without God) hears the revelation and does not believe it. Nothing can change a what a person believes if this is what his/she truly believes. Your beliefs are yours.

You like quoting the bible without understanding, so I leave you with an exercise about belief. Take the Gospel of John and see how Jesus deals with it.

I'm not a fan of any of it. It's poorly written, trite and riddled with contradictions.
My favorite take on the myths in the bible have to be by C.S. Lewis when he wrote the Narnia books.
