I'm wondering how long it takes the body to actually gain a pound of fat, not muscle. If it takes a calorie deficit of approx. 3,500 cals. to lose 1 pound in a week, does it take the same length of time to gain a pound of fat? It seems as though it is much shorter.

Yes, you got it. You answered your own question.

you gain 1 pound for every 3500 "unused" calories. The length of time varies upon your activity levels and eating habits.

if ur gaining fat purposely I'd suggest aiming for 2 lbs a week, it's unhealthy to rapidly gain weight

If you're me, it only takes 3.4 seconds to gain a pound...at least that's how it feels!

I imagine it depends on what you eat and the amount of exercise you get.
