They are not hiding behind the Muslim faith - they are practicing it as taught by Muhammad, taking the commands to kill and or enslave non-Muslims. So far I haven't seen any examples of enslavement, just killing.
Their Imams even dictate that its quite within reason to kill other Muslims if its to achieve the end goal of converting the world to Islam, which explains why the terrorists are killing innocent unarmed Iraqis by the droves.
Men, women or children, whom they murder bears no compassion whatsoever. We are not talking about a few stray men who like in our own U.S. military murder callously but we are talking about hundreds thousands and growing numbers of Muslims who embrace the extreme nature of the Quran.
There are however, some peaceful Muslims who would rather co-exist peacefully with everyone and some are dear friends of Jewish people. Non the less - the numbers of violent Muslims and those who are compelled and threatened to be violent far outweigh the peaceful Muslims and make them of non effect. This is why you don't hear very many voices in protest to deadly violent acts of terror driven Muslims.
Satan keeps their passions flowing steadily, building them into an inferno of hate. They justify their murders as did the Roman Catholic Church during the Crusades.
The chief difference is - the Crusades have long been over. Todays vicious, heartless Crusades are held by the Middle Eastern Muslims as their deeds more or less bare out this evil as the truth.
APPENDUM
Want proof of their hate? Just mention how you like Jews - or better yet, say you are a Jew around a Muslim and see how they react. One might cover his religious hate of Jews - but try up to five Muslims at random. You will see the hate first hand as I have.
My grandfather innocently asked if this Arab was a Jew (my grandpa did not know).. and the Arab went rabbid spitting mad.

I believe that the reason lies in the fact that Islam is becoming more and more a political ideology rather than a religious faith and it is politics and nationalism that motivates the terrorists. We must exclude the many faithful Muslims from this statement.
Muslim teachers do not speak out against all these atrocities because most of them are committed for nationalistic reasons and against the USA or Israel who are perceived as the political enemies (NOT religious enemies) of all muslim states, because they are in conflict with a few of them.
The few Imams and other religious leaders who might have doubts about these terrorists are afraid to speak for fear of criticism from hard line muslims and Islamic states. The terrorists and there henchmen are always shouting loudly about Allah and the will of Allah in connection with their terrorist actions, to make it difficult for anyone of their own religion to oppose them.

Terrorists, criminals and tyrants have always used religion, economic reform and race identity to justify their pursuit of power. Intelligent people are able to see through the facade.
Stupid people believe that ALL members of a certain race, nationality or religion are evil people. Why? Because they saw it on TV, or they heard some politician say it.
Millions of Americans hated all Germans and Japanese 65 years ago. Today, many Americans hate all Muslims. It is the same stupidity. They are people just like us. Some are good and some are bad. Most of them are friendly and peaceful.
Don't get your information from TV or the politicians. Get to know some of these people. Your opinion may change.

True Muslims are not terrorists. People who use the name Muslim are hijacking their criminal acts because they have a warped understanding of the message of God, like the Christian Crusaders of the Middle Ages, IRA and loyalist paramilitaries in the UK and Red Brigade in Italy, Basque separatists in Spain, who are all "Christians". Does that mean that these terrorists are "Christian terrorists"?
