The rear speaker channels in a 5:1 system rarely have anything sent to them. You will find that during action scenes or shoot outs they will suddenly provide ambient noise.

In ALL Home Theater systems they have a MENU that allows you to INDEPENDENTLY adjust the VOLUME on EACH speaker...You can turn up the REAR speakers and turn down the FRONTS if you like.

The PROBLEM is that MOST Home Theater systems build GREAT power supplies for the FRONT TWO speakers...And THEN the SKIMP on the power supplies for the CENTER and REAR channels.

That's why on most systems you'll have to turn of the REAR to make the whole thing sound better...As for the CENTER, if you can't HEAR the people in your movies TALKING over the explosions and on-screen action, you'll need to TURN IT UP.

There should be a bunch of different sound settings. Try them to see which sounds best. Mine has various ones with different names - Movie spectacular - Concert Hall - Jazz club, etc: but Jazz music doesn't necessarily sound best on the Jazz club setting and most rock music sounds best on the Movie Spectacular setting. A lot depends on the room and speaker positions. Try out different things.

There isn't much wrong then - the back speakers are always quieter - they tend to 'fill in' the quiter sounds behind you! They will get louder in certain action sequences but on the whole are usually just providing the 'background noises'!

Have you connected it to a 5.1 amplifier? or does it have an amp built in?
