well if your best friend is a guy and your a girl well talk to him and tell him how you feel and find out if he feels the same way about you. And if he doesn't well at least your still friends, but if you don't ask you will not know. So talk with him and find out.

Well, I'm not a guy but I'll answer:) If she also considers you as her best friend, try your luck. See, girls often fall in love with their male best friends... Trust me, it is so.
P.S. however, it would be good if you looked through your relationship and think if there were any signs of attraction from her.
