He broke up with me, does this mean he no longer has a heart or he never had one in the first place?

Guys are experts at saying what they think you want to hear. I've had guys say they wanted to marry me, but did they? No. It's easy to say something, but not so easy to actually go through with it.
I'm sure that your boyfriend cared about you, but sometimes things don't work out. Feelings change...a circumstance that he didn't take into account when he was telling you that he'd love you forever.
My advice: don't believe any man when he says he'll love you forever unless there's a ring on your finger to prove it.

When he said, "I will love you as long as I have a heart" he said that thinking he could predict the future and the two of you would be together forever. Obviously he could not predict the future. That's all there is to it.

It means he is very good at saying the right things at the right times.
It means he not only doesn't have a heart but also lacks a conscience or pride in himself or the man he has become.

That is called a 'non-commital' response.
I'm shocked you fell for it.
I hope you didn't sleep with him. If you did then it's lesson learned.
If you didn't, don't let him get to you and go find someone else. And this time, don't ask for or expect someone to say they love you. They'll say if and when they mean it unless they just want to get laid.
You've got to be patient. You might consider being single (no dating) for a while, if necessary.

if he has a reason....then u should accept that and know that he was not the right one for you....
