If you starve yourself despite food being available then you would be deliberately killing yourself. Surely this would be against God's rules too. Better to eat and live to tell the tale.

I think people can put too much emphasis on rituals.
Rituals can make one feel comfortable and give one a sense of
achievement. I try to be guided by Jesus' teaching that the emphasis should really be on relationship with God and moral good and well-being coming from that; I have atheist friends who behave more nicely than me though; lol.
Jesus got in trouble with the religious authorities for breaking the ritual aspects of the Jewish Law - although it was all the finicky rules that had been added on top of the Law really.
e.g They got annoyed with Jesus and His disciples when they plucked wheat ears and then removed the husks and ate the wheatgerms on a Saturday because that was 'working on the Sabbath'.
Jesus said he was bringing in a New Covenant between God and Man, so that acceptance with God is paid for by Jesus taking one's punishment. A lot of the Jewish Law was ritual, but from a christian point of view that is regarded as now unnecessary; that hasn't stopped most churches from developing their own rituals - lol.

Because it is an earthly problem and not God's fault. He gave us a beautiful planet and if we followed His advice there would be plenty for all and peace too. The Bible makes it clear that He will not rule this world until after the day of judgement when He resurrects those who were faithful to His teachings and people who would have been if they knew about them. Those who have made the world the horrible place it is today will be left in 'sheoul' latterly called 'Hell', which is in fact simply the common grave of mankind, not a place full of fire and devils with toasting forks!

To some people keeping the rules is more important than life itself. Peter was told by God in a vision in Acts that God called all things clean.
It's not a question of logic but of personal beliefs and convictions. I'm not saying I would starve, but I do think that if I had to kill an animal myself in order to eat it, I'd have to be very, very hungry to do so.
Some people have eaten grass rather than kill animals. It's an individual thing.

Starvation is better than life in disobedience to the Law of the One True God. Most men are irreligiously logic, and their lives are a big mess. The Messengers of God teach men how to be both religious and logic. Duality in the logical mind is the source of all suffering.

I didnt see the question earlier, but the bible says if you dont work you dont eat. I am assuming the question was about people eating unclean meat. Well if they read in the New Testement they would find there is nothing wrong with unclean meats. So if someone starves cause of their own stupity then thats not having faith in God.

Yes I find it amazing too. You think that your survival instinct would kick in, but nope. Being faithful to God and your religion is more important. Makes no sense to me. I don't think that you would be damned if you ate pork or shellfish. It is all in their head. It is what they were raised to believe and it's all they have. If that is what they choose then so be it. What can we do? We cannot interfere with someones beliefs. No matter how different it is. There is no logic with them, only faith.

God is imaginary.
For someone to starve because of some bronze-aged cult says it's the "right" thing to do is Darwinism at it's best.
These people make the world a better place by leaving it in the quickest way possible.

i do believe that religious people do only starve themselves when they want to prove a religious point. not sure what any are though. i think they truley believe they are doing the right thing.
theres a saying if you love something so much you would give up your life for it. i suppose this is what religous people believe, as god is the most important thing to them.

O.K.
I just got here.
Why wouldn't they eat the shellfish, pork, etc.?
The only answer I know is because the Law of Moses has certain prohibitions.
The Law of Moses was given to Jews.
If one is not Jewish, why submit to a law of another national group?
Plus....
Jesus did away with the Law of Moses.
It no longer applies ...not even to Jews.
Romans 10:4.
