I am 12 and my sister is 16 and she is not supposed to drive without an adult yet. But I wanted to go to my friends house and it is just a couple of blocks away and it was raining. So I asked her to zip me over there and she did. Mom found out and told Daddy.
Now my sister and I got grounded 2 weeks each. Also we got spanked by daddy with the belt 10 smacks on the bare butts bent over grabbing ankles. We share a room so we had to watch each other. And I have to write some dumb essay on responsibility for my actions. My sister has to write one on why driving in the rain with only a permit is dangerous. The essays have to be at least three pages typed single spaced.
The grounding means no car for her no phone for either of us and when we come home it is right to our room and then out for supper then back to our room. Chores will be assigned each weekend. Other than that we live in our room. At least they did not take away our TV or X-Box or computer.
Is this fair?

My sister and I decided I should ask here. We are actually having an OK time doing each others hair and makeup and hugging a lot and playing games. Our butts are sore but we are used to that. Mom and/or dad spank us often enough (me oftener) for things we do wrong. Spanking is not a bad thing and this is NOT sexual abuse. It is just the way my family does things. But I and sis still think that 2 weeks of grounding is a little long. We killed no one. But thus far I do see the point I suppose and she says so does she.
We agree we would gladly take another spanking if we could end the grounding.

It sounds fair to me. I think this could be a time to bond with your sister. Dies she feel it is unfair as well? (I imagine so). You might also get some ointment and tned to each others rear ends as I imagine they are sore now. Driving in the rain is dangerous very much more so if you have no license just a permit. You asking her to do this was not a good idea. Her agreeing was also not a good idea. Might I suggest you just get through this, learn from it, and move on but as closer friends and sisters? Also show esprit de corps and help each other with the chores assigned. Become a team and realize that adults, for now anyway, are not exactly the enemy but are seriously close. It is you two against the parents. So act as a team.
Now then I think you got off light on that spanking part too.

Consider yourselves lucky they could have took everything away from you.It is unfair but I know where your Dad and Mom are coming from, what would have happened if your sister would have had a wreck and both of you'll woulf have gotten hurt or worse. And the only thing I don't agree is the spanking the bare butts. everything else even the spanking is good but not on a bare butt. But some Dad's are different. Hopefully when he spanked you and your sister, your Mom was there too. Well after your punishment is over you will know better next time. All you have to remember is what happen this time and learn from it.

Yes this is very fair and very mild punishment. If you were my kids you would have gotten 20 smacks on your butt with a belt, 6 months restriction with no phone, no x-box, no tv and you'd have more than just weekend chores assigned.
You would be able to use the computer and a printer cause you would both be working jointly on a 30 page research paper on how to be a responsible individual and another 30 page paper on the dangers of teenage driving.
One thing i wouldn't have done is spank your bare bottoms cause at your age that is just plain wrong, i'd have made sure you were wearing jeans or something while getting the spanking.

I think your English is immaculate for a 12 year old, your dad is a bit strict and you probably deserve your punishment, because if anything happened to you or your sister (God forbid) or even someone else, then it would be more than 2 weeks for you two and it will not come from your dad..
I somehow dont believe you are 12 after reading part two of your question and honestly I think you do deserve your grounding, it is going to give you something to think seriously about before you venture out like that.. glad you are enjoying each others company though

If you take out the spanking issue (because people have varied and strong views on that), it was very fair. The punishment had to be severe enough that you and your sister would never, ever do this again. She's not licensed to drive on her own and someone could have been hurt or killed. At the very least, the car could have been damaged. Imagine your parents trying to explain that to the insurance company.
Your parents love you and don't want to see you hurt. Secondly, they don't want the financial liability that could occur if there was an accident.

Because the mortality rates increase dramatically for a teenage driver when there is other teenagers in the car, I can see why your parents are so mad.
Seems fair to me, If I was your mom I wouldn't let either you or your sister get your drivers licenses until you are 18.
Driving is a privilege, not a right.

i think that all this stuff is way 2 much just cuz of that lil thing!! u shouldnt have 2 rite no dumb *** essay cuz u aint n skool nd u should b grounded 4 a week at the most. nd that whole smackin thing u shouldnt have got as many as u did or any at all but if thats wat ur family does then not as many as u got nd not offen either mayb the 1st day then no more!! i think they r 2 harsh on u nd ur sister!! i hope this helps

omg i think you are a littel to old for spankings.. i stopped getting spanked when i was like 7 so yeah,,, ummm 2 weeks isnt that bad concidering i have been grounded to my room for a month just because i got a detention for yelling at some boy..so yeah it isnt that bad.. retarded but not that badit will b over b4 you know it....but the spankings got to go...
