Big city police usually look down on the sheriff as being less sophisticated. Sheriff usually handles law enforcement in the rural areas of a county, while the policeman are in the city and town.

The County Sheriff is usually an elected position, rather than appointed like many of the heads of Police.

Typically there is a pretty good communications link between the two organizations, with very clear lines of demarcation on responsibility and overlap.

nicely, you observed a deputy sheriff and a police officer. The Sheriff is the elected company head, very like the employed police chief. different than for jurisdiction, the Sheriff has some civil accountability coping with court docket movements. In some places, the deputy sheriff could be fired merely using fact the sheriff decides to, with no reason. some sheriff's directly declare that every physique is out at evening earlier the hot term starts and all who choose to stay could enable him be responsive to previous to time. those he would not reappoint are out. would not happen plenty in very great sheriff's places of work. Police, fairly in businesses great sufficient to have elected civil service, are greater shield. yet the two between the human beings you observed probable do surprisingly plenty the comparable activity, until eventually the deputy is assigned to civil technique. and that they could have some calls the different would not see plenty. The policeman probable hardly has to chase farm animals lower back into the pasture. The deputy could artwork few corporation burglaries.
