I have a doctor's appointment in about two weeks but my gums are killing me. Mouthwash doesn't seem to do anything.
Is there anything I can do to get some sort of relief?

Please call your dentist and ask for a referral to a good periodontist in your area, and book an emergency periodontal appointment as soon as possible.

In the mean time, I would suggest a combination of holistic remedies that gave me a relief and healing:

1.If you do not have to be with other people--cut up a clove of garlic into long, thin slices; apply one slice to the gums and hold {save the rest in a tiny glass jar with a tight lid (keep in the fridge)};hold as long as you can then move the slice with your tongue to the next spot till you treat as much gum area as you can. You can chew on a garlic too.

2. Floss with--Gum Perio Pic-or similar flat wooden periodontic toothpics, rouded side towards the teeth and the flat side toward the gums. Repeat this and the following steps after each meal or a snack.

3. Swish with warm saline solution--1 tsp. of sea salt to a glass of water. Use water pick if possible.

4. Apply a caplet of vitamine C directly to the gums. Hold a bit and move to the next spot until the caplet dissolves. It hurts at first then the pain goes away. Repeat several times a day.

5. With Q-tip dab a bit of clove oil onto the sore gums. It hurts a lot but it numbs the gums and helps to tone down the smell of garlic.

6.Swish your mouth with a commercial mouth wash--preferably the one without mint--sold in health stores.

Use Anbesol as needed to relieve pain and before a meal.

Your periodontist might prescribe a special medicated mouth wash. The one I received was good for pain reduction, but badly discolored my teeth, maybe your periodontist has something better.

At the periodontist ask about a deep gums cleaning procedure. It helps to remove the plaque that causes deep pockets between the teeth and the gums where the food enters, irritates the gums and feeds the bacteria that multiply and cause the problem.

If you are not sure that you can tolerate codeine and/or anibiotics be very careful, and warn the doctor that you might be allergic. Also, be careful with chlorine, as it may cause adverse effects, even a weak mouth washing solution, that is why bleach is not included in the list of holistic remedies.

Although, your condition doesn't go away overnight, I assure you that step by step it will get better and eventually heal completely. Get well soon!

I use a water pic with 1/3 Hydrogen peroxide and 2/3 warm water. This gives almost instant relief. No kidding, I was shocked.

You just squirt the solution at the gum line inside and out. It foams a little at first but quits after you have done it a couple of times. About 5 oz of peroxide mixed with 10 oz of warm water is enough to go around all of your teeth twice inside and out.

Don't use it any stronger than 50/50 cause it is strong enough to damage healing gum tissue.

After a while just doing it once a week keeps you symptom free.

To get rid of the taste just use your favorite mouth wash.

Love and blessings Don

Yeah brush 2x/day and floss 1x/day. It's the only way to get rid of the soreness and bleedy. It is caused from bacteria that is inflaming your gums and causing an infection in them. It's going to be painful for the first couple weeks of flossing but it is really important to do it otherwise you are not going to get rid of the sore and bleedy gums. Mouthwash will not do anything but get the bugs drunk.

For wasp and bee stings use moistened tobacco applied directly. For fire ants the best way I have found, believe it or not is peeing on the bites. The uric acid in urine has a soothing and antiseptic effect ON the bites.

Take a combination of Vitamin B & C and use salt water to rinse. It sounds like you have gingivitis. Also, you might contact your dentist's office to get recommendations as to what you can do to help your discomfort.
