I made this recipe yesterday...well I didnt care for it much and neither did my family. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_35460,00.html?rsrc=search

Do you know of a really delicious way to make broccoli calzones. I don't want a recipe off the internet that you have never tried. I would rather a recipe that you have actually tried and is delicious. Thanks for your help.

For some reason Ricotta cheese really doesn't go well with Broccoli.
I use a mixture of Mozzarella and Cheddar
Form your pizza dough in the pizza pan like you normally would and spread Garlic butter instead of sauce on the dough
I even like putting little chunks of roasted garlic in with it
Put your broccoli and your cheese and whatever other fillings you want on one half of the dough.
don't be afraid to put alot.if you have a nice dough with a good elasticity it wont be a problem when you fold it.
Cooked Maine shrimp is excellent as a filling also with this.
fold the dough in half to cover your fillings and fold the edges together to seal it.
Cut some tiny slits in the top of the dough to distribute the heat evenly inside of the calzone.
Brush the top of the calzone with an eggwash this will make it nice and golden brown and add a nice shiny sheen to it.
A pizza oven is usually set at 500 degrees but at home I guess you can do 450 or 475 for 15 or 20 min.

While I did find this recipe from an internet site (allrecipes.com), I have made it a few times and it is very good. I usually add chicken and pepperoni. I also have a bread machine, but the dough can be made without one.

INGREDIENTS
1 1/3 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2/3 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
4 cups bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 (10 ounce) package chopped frozen broccoli, thawed
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil

DIRECTIONS
Place the water, olive oil, salt, oregano, bread flour, and yeast in the bread machine pan in the order recommend by the manufacturer. Select the dough cycle.
Meanwhile, to make the filling, squeeze out excess liquid from broccoli. In a large skillet saute the broccoli and garlic powder with the olive oil. Stir in the grated provolone cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, grated mozzarella cheese, and ricotta cheese.
Once bread cycle has finished, remove dough from machine and roll into 8 inch circles. Spread filling on one half of the circle leaving a border around it for closing. Close the calzone by folding the unfilled side on top of the filled side. Crimp the edges closed with your fingers or a fork. Place on a lightly greased baking pan. Let rise in a draft-free area for 30 minutes.
Brush tops lightly with olive oil. Bake in a preheated 500 degree F (260 degrees C) oven for 20 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Stuff your calzone with a layer of shredded cheddar cheese, al dente cooked broccoli, REAL bacon bits (you can buy them in a jar), some chopped, sauteed onion and top with more cheese. Seal you dough and bake. Sounds a little weird, but it is really good.
