Many Mormons make the claim to be true "Christians". When you compare their teachings with basic, orthodox Christian doctrines do they agree?
As you compare the claims in this tract you must ask the question ''Is Mormonism Christian or not?'' For further help or information write to us:
THE PRE EXISTENCE OF JESUS CHRIST.
Mormonism: The Mormon Jesus was born in the heavens as a spirit-child of "heavenly father" named Elohim, an exalted man, and one of his spirit-wives by sexual relations. Lucifer, who became Satan the Devil, is the brother of this Mormon Jesus. (The Gospel Through the Ages, p. 15; History of the Church, Vol 6 p. 308, 474.).
Christianity: Jesus Christ is not created, but is eternal, and has always been God. (See Timothy 1: 16: John 1: 1-3; Micah 5:2 1 Timothy 3:16; Titus 2:13; Revelation 1:8; Matt. 1:23).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE EARTHLY BIRTH
Mormonism: Elohim, the Mormon heavenly father, came to this earth in human form and had sex relations with the Virgin Mary, who was no longer a virgin, and she gave birth to the Mormon Jesus as a result. (See Doctrines of Salvation Vol. 1;18; Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 158; and Journal of Discourses 8: 115 quoting Brigham
Christianity: Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary as "Emmanuel", "God with us." (See Matt. 1:23 ) Jesus was conceived in the Virgin Mary's womb when the Holy Spirit came upon her.) See Matt. 1 :20).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE EARTHLY LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST
Mormonism: The Mormon Jesus was the bridegroom at Cana of Galilee according to the Mormon interpretation of John 2: 1-2 and was therefore married to at least one wife while on earth. (See Journal of Discourses, Vol 2, p. 82 quoting Orson Hyde (Apostle).
Christianity: There is no biblical record of Jesus marrying. A reading of the account in John 2:1-12 shows Jesus was "invited" to the wedding. Bridegrooms do not receive invitations to their own weddings!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YOUR MOTHER WHICH
ART IN HEAVEN? MRS. GOD
Mormonism: teaches that God the father has many wives in heaven, thereby resulting in not only a father in heaven , but a mother-in-heaven Mormon doctrine. All Mormons on earth today believe they were originally the result of such sexual, heavenly union. (See Orson Pratt. The Seer, p37; also Mormon Doctrine by Bruce McConkie, p. 516)
Christianity: The Bible has absolutely no mention of any such "wives" of God the Father.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VIEW OF THE BIBLE
Mormonism: "Ignorant translators, careless subscribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors--many plain and precious things were deleted, in consequence of which error and falsehood poured into the various churches. One of the greatest heresies of modern Christendom is the unfounded assumption that the bible contains all the inspired teachings now extant among men." (Mormon Doctrine p. 82, 83).
Christianity: "All scripture is given by God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. "2 Timothy 3: 16-17).
"Thy word is very pure". (Psalms 119: 140)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD
AND GENEALOGY
Mormonism: Mormons research genealogies and get baptized in their temples in proxy for their dead relatives. They misinterpret 1 Corinthians 15: 29 "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
Christianity: Doing genealogies is useless for the Christian. (See 1 Timothy 1 :3 , 4) 1 Corinthians, Chapter 15, is on the subject of the resurrection, not baptism. I Cor. 15: 29 shows the folly of THOSE (not WE believers but THOSE unbelievers)who denied the resurrection, and yet practiced the pagan rite of "baptism for the dead". Hebrews 9:27 shows that once a person is dead, he faces judgment. Nothing the living do can change this.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VIEW OF THE CHURCH
Mormonism: There is no salvation outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." (Mormon Doctrine p. 670).
All other churches are entirely destitute of all authority from God; and any person who receives baptism or the Lord's Supper from their hands will highly offend God; for He looks upon them as most corrupt of all people. Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the whore of Babylon." (The Seer, p. 255).
Christianity: The Church in the Bible is the entire born- again body of believers in the true Jesus Christ of the Bible. (Almighty God manifested in the flesh). It is not a man- made organization with a false prophet at it's head!
The true church partakes of the Lord's Supper of bread and wine, not water as the Mormons use. (See John 3: 3-7; Ephesians 1:22,23; 4: 11-16; Matthew 26: 26-30.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IN CONCLUSION:
As will be evident by this time, in the reading of this tract, Mormonism is not Christian. Further, Mormonism has made vicious attacks against the body of Christ in all denominations. This tract and others like it, is an honest attempt to defend the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and point out the errors of those "coming to us preaching another Jesus, another gospel with a different spirit". (See 2 Corinthians 11:4)
Eight Mormon Myths
From Bill McKeevers WEB
http://www.mrm.org/
MYTH #1: The Mormon Church is the fastest growing religion in the world.
The shear number of adherents to Catholicism and Islam make them far and away the fastest growing religions in the world by birthrate alone.
MYTH #2: The LDS Church doesn't have a paid ministry.
All General Authorities serving the LDS Church in Salt Lake City are offered a living allowance for their full-time service. While it is true that those who minister in the LDS Church on a local level (such as the bishop) are not remunerated, Doctrine and Covenants 42:71-73 says they should be. According to D&C 75:24 the LDS Church is also supposed to support the families of those who have been called on a mission. This it does not do.
MYTH #3: Reading the Book of Mormon will tell you all about Mormon doctrine.
The Book of Mormon fails to teach the unique doctrine Latter-day Saints feel is necessary to believe and practice in order to become Gods.
MYTH #4: All of Joseph Smith's prophecies came to pass.
If that was true Jesus would have returned in 1891 (Documentary History of the Church (DHC) 2:182), The Civil War would have poured out upon all nations (D&C 87:1-3), the wicked of Smith's generation would have been "swept from off the face of the land" (DHC 1:315), and a temple would have been built in Independence Missouri by the generation living in 1832 (D&C 84:4,5).
MYTH #5: Brigham Young never taught Adam was God.
Not only did Brigham Young teach that Adam was Michael the Archangel, the Ancient of Days; he also taught that Adam was "our Father and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do." He finished this message by saying, "Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation" (Journal of Discourses 1:50,51). Notice Young called this teaching a "doctrine," not a "theory" as most Mormons like to refer to it today.
MYTH #6: The Book of Mormon has been proven by archaeology.
To date, nothing has been found to verify Book of Mormon sites. In fact, many within the Mormon Church are beginning to abandon the idea that the Book of Mormon is a book of verifiable history. No credible archaeologist outside of the Mormon Church considers the book to have any New World archaeological value.
MYTH #7: Polygamy was necessary in early Utah because there were more women than men.
The fact is, there were more men than women in early Utah when polygamy was being practiced. Mormon Apostle John Widtsoe wrote on pages 390-391 of his book entitled Evidences and Reconciliations, "The most common of these conjectures is that the Church, through plural marriage, sought to provide husbands for its large surplus of female members. The implied assumption in this theory, that there have been more females than male members in the Church, is not supported by existing evidence. On the contrary, there seem always to have been more males than females in the Church... The theory that plural marriage was a consequence of a surplus of female Church members fails from lack of evidence."
MYTH #8: Joseph Smith died as a "lamb led to the slaughter."
The fact is, Joseph Smith died in a gun battle using a pistol that was smuggled to him while incarcerated at Carthage jail. According to The Documentary History of the Church (published six years after the fact), Joseph Smith pulled this six-shooter from his pocket "and snapped the pistol six successive times; only three of the barrels, however, were discharged. I afterwards understood that two or three were wounded by these discharges, two of whom, I am informed, died" (John Taylor, Volume 7, pp. 102-103).

1. Because there's nothing in the Bible or in early Christian teaching that forbids facial hair. (In fact, the earliest Christian men probably had plenty of it. So, probably, did Jesus Himself.)
2. Because there's nothing in the Bible or in early Christian teaching that forbids alcohol consumption. (Quite the opposite, actually -- the Bible mentions alcohol consumption in a favorable light at least six dozen times.)
3. Because there's nothing in the Bible or in early Christian teaching that forbids caffeine.
4. Because there's nothing in the Bible or in early Christian teaching that tells us that there are multiple levels of Heaven.
5. Because there's nothing in the Bible or in early Christian teaching that forbids tobacco (although, personally, I can't stand the stuff).
6. Because the Mormon teaching regarding the Great Apostasy is in direct contradiction with Jesus' words in Matthew 16, where He says that not even the powers of hell will prevail against His Church.
7. Because there's no archaeological evidence whatsoever that any of the New World battles described in the Book of Mormon ever happened. (Battles described in the Bible that took place many centuries earlier, meanwhile, have left reams of evidence that archaeologists have uncovered.)
8. Because the Book of Mormon mentions honeybees living in the New World well before they were actually imported by Spanish explorers. Joseph Smith put the bees in his book to add some literary color, not realizing that his credibility would be stung by them.
9. Because God's revelation ended with the Bible and with the death of the last apostle, who was probably John. Hence, no need for a new revelation such as the Book of Mormon.
10. I think 9 reasons is enough!

I can't give you the full 10.
But here is what I do know about the church.
The ceremonies that go on in the temples are kept secret. Supposedly that is because they are "too sacred to disclose" but it involves things like knowing the passwords to get past the angels in heaven. They are given secret signs. However, this is very close to the same secret symbols used in the Masonic Lodge.
Update to the user that talks about polygamy. That is only the the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints sect of Mormonism. The mainline (Salt Lake City) Mormons rejected that in the late 1800s in order to gain statehood for Utah.

1.The Bible says in Rev.22:18,19 that no one should add or take away the words from the Bible. Mormons do.
2.They look to the Book of Mormon as their final authority.
3. They only use certain Scriptures from the King James Bible. They refuse to look at any other Bibles as reference sources.
4. They teach that we were once all angels with select "stations" in the heavens.
5. They believe the earth is a "proving" ground to either regain that same "station" above or to gain a higher "station in heaven.
6. They believe that Jesus came to Middle America to teach the Native Americans while he was supposedly in the grave for 3 days
7. They believe in stockpiling goods for themselves before Armageddon comes. (Survivalists)
8. They believe that Joseph Smith was talked to directly by God himself in a cave in New York.
9..They involve themselves with political views and run for office in our governments.
10. They believe that several wives are needed according to the Book of Mormon. (the government said they were not to be polygamists) Many still defy the governments orders.
11. The good points are they are close family members and they know we are living in the last days

You need 10 reasons, is that all. The mormans have a least 100 reasons why they are false. For a starters, they believe that Jesus is the archangel Michael. That is a loud of bull. They have predicted the return of Christ so many times I have lost count, and have all been wrong. They believe when Jesus rose from the dead that he was only in spirit. That again is rubbish. Jesus told his disiples that he is not a ghost, as ghosts do not have flesh and bones like he did. So it was obvious that Jesus has got a full resserected body of flesh. They believe that Jesus had to earn his salvation. Jesus did not need salvation as Jesus did not sin, and being the only Begotten of the Father Jesus need no salvation as Jesus was already from Heaven. They believe that they are tho only ones that are saved and going to Heaven. Mate i do not need to go on. There is so much false bull with those cult people it is not funny. The list is too great, I would be here all night.

You need only one reason why the moron religion is false. That reason is it was fabricated by an illiterate white boy from upstate New York who did not know anything about the history of biblical scholarship.
The most important is how the books were written.

you only need one reason, Joseph Smith was a false prophet. He wrote the book of mormon and mormons think of it as if he added to the Bible, surely he did NOT add to the Bible, the Bible is complete.
a few other notes................
Jesus is NOT the brother of Satan!
You do NOT have to accept the teaching of Smith to be saved
You will NEVER be a ruler of your own planet
You should NEVER be baptised for a dead person, it has no value!
The Bible NEVER teaches that we should have many wives as Smith did and also B. young who had over 30 wives. The fact is, a Pastor is to be the husband of one wife, not more than one!
those are just a few reasons, just in case one isn't enough.

I don't know what to say without taking so time to do some research, but a couple of things is that they reject Jesus Christ as God, and therefore there can be no salvation for man. Secondly they add to the Bible (The Book of Mormon) Both of these things make them a false religion.

How would you find counterfeit money? By examining the real money and comparing it with the false one. So lets look at what the true religion should be like.......
Jesus said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:35) Such love reaches across racial, social, and national boundaries, drawing people together in genuine brotherhood. So strong is this love that it sets them apart as being truly different. When the nations go to war, who have enough love for their Christian brothers in other lands that they refuse to take up arms and kill them? That is what early Christians did.
Jesus said that his true followers would be “no part of the world.” (John 15:19) To worship God in a manner that he approves requires that we keep ourselves “without spot from the world.” (Jas. 1:27) Can that be said of those whose clergy and other members are involved in politics, or whose lives are largely built around materialistic and fleshly desires?—1 John 2:15-17.

FOR Religion it is not necessary to have ten, One is sufficient. Mormonism is based on a man's ideas, NOT on GOD's. It was fashioned by a man to allow him to do the things that he wanted and has been a tradition of that group of people ever-since that time. GOD does not want us to add to or take from HIS HOLY WORD. Some of the ideas expressed by this group are contrary to Christianity itself yet they claim to be "Christians". Have a great day.
