Keep the bulbs in a cool, dark, dry place. That's how farmers used to store garlic (as well as onions, potato, apples...) over the winter!

I buy garlic in bulk because I use it so often in my cooking. By storing garlic properly, the taste and texture is preserved.
The first thought for many people is to store garlic bulbs in the crisper of the refrigerator or in the freezer. The cold temperature spoils the taste as well as the texture of the garlic cloves.
Garlic is best stored in a cool, dry place. When I come home from the supermarket, I immediately take the garlic bulbs and place them in an airtight container or plastic baggie. I then store them in a cabinet, ensuring a cool dark environment.
When cooking with garlic, your dish is only going to be as good as the garlic you use. Take care in storing garlic; you'll reap the rewards later.

Slightly cooler than room tempurature, away from sun light. In a cupboard is usually the best place.
A slice of lemon in the netting it comes with keeps it fresh also. (Obviosly you'll have to replace the lemon regularly)
Hmmm, I fancy some now......

Dark and dry. Use one of those garlic pots which you can buy. Do not use any that have started marking and have green shoots, they tend to be bitter.
